My fiancé and I met on OKC. I hope it doesn’t trigger suspicion about it being an IMB but we have still contacted the OKC support regarding it and they have stated that they aren’t. Besides that, my fiancé and I are 7 months into the relationship where we have met once for a week and we are meeting for the second time next month after which we shall be applying for our K1 Visa because by then we would have more pictures/ proof and a ring. We are very much in love and we could not be more sure of our decision but we’re just worried if what we have is enough. Kindly let us know

Hey guys!

What country is the beneficiary from?

Do you have proof of seeing each other? You're going to need to start compiling your evidence before you file.

Don't worry about the ring. Don't even include it in your application unless it will help (aka high fraud country) because it could be seen as being 'bought', or you could be seen as too married already.

I’m the beneficiary, I’m from Mumbai (India). I’m a little confused about the ring, do we or do we not show it ? And yes we do have proof of seeing each other. He has his flight tickets and hotel bookings and ofcourse our pictures together.

Honestly, I wouldn't show it. There's a LOT of posts on VJ about people who showed their ring (and also photos from engagement ceremonies, etc) that were denied because they were considered too married.

Passport stamps and pictures together are some of the best evidence you can have. Have a look at those guides that I posted to you, and I'll see if I can get some more people from India to chime in on their experiences. :)

A ring proves nothing except one of you bought a ring. You do not need a ring to be “engaged” (which is not a legal status anyway) and you certainly don’t need it for a K-1. Stop thinking about trivialities and focus on the bigger picture. You are trying to convince a stranger that a person you have spent one week with is the one you want to marry. Show evidence of quality time spent together and that you have made the right life-changing decision. Photos are nice but not the most important evidence.

I knew my fiance less than a year when we filed, but we provided plenty off proof that we had met and were in a legitimate relationship. Photos, passport stamps, receipts, airline tickets, etc. I also included the terms and services of the website that we met on. I didn't have my ring yet at the time we filed, but I did include some messages between the two of us discussing purchasing an engagement ring.  I'm still waiting on NOA2, so I can't say if it worked yet or not-- but I have seen many people post about being approved even with a short relationship. I think if you can prove you have a real relationship that there should be no discrimination on length of relationship. Good luck.

On one hand, lots of people here have been approved with a pretty short relationship prior to filing (heck, I suspect the three in-person meetings in ten months we had when I filed back in May was longer than average); I don't think you'll have any unusual problems with your petition. On the other, some reports here suggest Mumbai is a pretty tough consulate, so you may want to talk to some of the other couples with an Indian beneficiary here about what they're looking for.

It’s extremely comforting to know you we’re on a similar boat. And congratulations!  Mind giving me some more information regarding the interview process ? What are the type of information they’re hoping to find like questions etc . I do have all the basic knowledge of my fiancé.

I don't understand why an engagement ring would be an issue. K1, after all, is for fiances who are engaged, no?

I think as long as there isn't a wedding band it should be fine.

But there are cultures where rings are not given for an engagement, only for a marriage. Engagement rings are a concept of the western world. So for some embassies, if they see a ring purchase or a ring itself it sets off alarm bells that the couple is actually married.

Hey..is your beneficiary  male or female ? because from what i noticed that males get questioned harder than females. I was asked 25-30 questions. Some of the questions:

What do you two have in common/ interests you share?

How do your families feel about your relationship?

They also ask about family work history.

If fiance is into sports and what his favorite team was.

Those were about the hardest questions. Not to difficult so don't stress too much.
