08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My previous breaks aren't cold sensitive. The only ones that ever "hurt" are the plate and that big toe that I stupidly didn't go to the doctor about. I think it healed funny, but it is rare that it hurts as well. My whole body hurts as a result of the cold or just whatever.  2 days ago, I was near crying because just getting my arms massaged was near unbearable. All my joints have been acting up.

 

As testament to this, I was just outside a few hours ago in shorts and a sweater.  Temp outside was about 8°.  Only thing that hurt was my one hand touching all the recycling in our 96 gal bins, whilst looking for the Troll's dinosaur hat.  It was not found.

La Colombiana bashed her head pretty hard on the upper jamb of a doorway that's about 4 foot in height at the workplace of her second job. I picked her up at the urgent care facility and she might have been slightly concussed, although she was feeling fine this morning. Was weird explaining to her about building codes, corporate responsibility for employee safety, workmen's comp, and lawyers with huge billboard ads asking people who have been hurt at work to call them. She was surprised to see the HR guy at her workplace at 5:30 when we returned to give them the paperwork from the clinic. "He always leaves at 4:45!"  Umm, yeah.

 

Just some more cultural adjustment even after 3.5 yrs here in America.

We were meant to get a bit of snow over the coming weekend. All the weather geeks have been raving on and on for days. So in the updated forecast today, rain. Cold rain, possibly freezing rain, and no snow at all. Humbug.

It's more like a cuckoo's nest. It's a high end residence for people with behavioral problems. She likes it because the residents make her feel a little less insane by comparison. The door is in the admin/employee building, otherwise they would have probably already incurred a patient led lawsuit.
