Transit in US after overstay

I used to overstay with my B2 visa but then i went back home. Now im planned to travel to bermuda (with UK visa) but the itinerary shows that i will have lay over in US. My question is, will i get in trouble if i only transit in US?

You need a transit visa. Or a different flight.

how do i apply for transit visa? And what is the worst thing happen if i still layover in US? Just to make it clear that my destination is to bermuda. Im not going to enter the US territory (except the airport)

With previous overstay it might be impossible to get that Visa. 

 

Best thing to do it find a flight that doesn't go though the US.

You need a transit visa, which is a C visa. You will enter US territory, because that’s how the US works - they don’t have separated transit-only areas like most other countries - you will pass through the border when you come off the plane. Because of that, the requirements are pretty much the same as a B visa, which means that with a previous overstay, you’re at high risk of rejection. At least, you can find this out in advance and know if you need to route differently.

How long was your overstay? You may be barred from the US if it was 180 days or greater.

It was 160 days

Then there's no ban, but you still may have issues.

 

Obtaining a C visa would be the easiest way to alleviate them.

You won't be getting on the plane if you don't have a visa.

It's basically the same process as a B2, which you had, so you should be somewhat familiar with the process. We could share the link if we knew your country. 

 

It's quite a challenge to get another NIV visa with a previous overstay, but how long ago the overstay was matters.

Your B2 visa was cancelled the day you overstayed. You need a visa to enter the US, even if just for transit.

No. I’ve flown over many countries I would have needed a visa for if that was the case.

I have flown over countries I would not want to get a visa for.
