Why don't you do one better and register your email (both petitioner and beneficiary's) and you will be updated each and every time your case gets touched. You'll learn when it leaves USCIS, you'll learn when it is received NVC and you will receive a notice when your case number has been assigned. All you have to do is stay off the phone. One other item; many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. We called the NVC and got our case number last week but they said it hadnt been sent to the Embassy yet. 

 

Have we to just wait now for them to send it and to get an email before theres next steps to be done?

 

I have booked my medical and have that next week. The letter from police records I need to show them a letter from the embassy so waiting on that. 

 

Anything else we can do to cross off? Are the fees paid once the embassy gets in touch? They gave an invoice number on the phone but didnt follow up with anything yet.

I am new. I have a bunch of questions (probably the majority of them have been answered already - I am sorry).

We got our NOA2 on September 5th, we still haven't heard from NVC. But now I am not even sure if we were supposed to be contacted from NVC. Were we supposed to call? 

Also, am I supposed to do something meanwhile? DS-160? Can I do it before I get the letter from the embassy? Can I start gathering my criminal records or should I do that when I hear from the embassy?

Look 3 post prior for number. 

U can call all u like. Most call after 10 days for nvc number

can start ds160

should have been gathering needed info for along time now. Best to get going on it now.

I guess NVC doesn't really notify if you don't call, right?

I didn't gather my criminal records yet because I know it is a time sensitive info and I thought it should have been dated as close as possible to the interview and in Italy I can get my criminal records in few days.

After I fill the DS-160, can I even start to schedule my appointment for the interview or should I wait to hear from the Embassy?

So we should be all in transit to our embassies by tomorrow or Wednesday right? We have our interview the 18th and medical tomorrow so cutting it close

Each embassy is different. But, it's common that u need nvc number to schedule medical and interview

Received hard copy of noa2 today. Was actually approved on September 26th. 

Still no update on any site or app.

they updated the website and app like a week after we got our NOA2 hard copy! Congrats!!!
