  1. So sorry 😪I only have experience from k1 when we got outside of the normal processing time. We inquired through the online form and my then fiancé got a letter in the mail two weeks later saying that they are experiencing a backlog and that we'll hear back within 15 days. We called after 15 days passed and they told us it takes 40 days for them to get back to us. At the end, we got approved on a day 35 since we received the letter. 🤯
  2. Can I just double check - your case changed into "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" in January 2018 and it changed into "Interview was scheduled" in March 2019?
  3. Hi there, we are ready to be scheduled for an interview as of March 21st. Definitely keep me updated, we are waiting in that huuuuuge line together now
  4. I love reading through November 2018 AOS thread because people from UK always end up talking about food and I think it is adorable! Now, off to watch Great British Baking Show! 😍
  5. Exactly as Rocko20 says, you keep the same SSN from your J1, that stays with you your whole life. The only thing you can do is to go to SSA with your marriage certificate, SSN, passport and EAD and have your name updated on the card. I was actually able to update my social security card (from J1) on my married name within i94 window with no problems.
  6. Can I just double check - let's say you wait for your EAD while you're waiting for your AOS. You get it after six months of waiting, but you live in an area where the processing time for AOS takes waaaaay over a year, so you have to file (and pay a fee?) for EAD/AP renewal literally six months after you received the original one to be sure you'll get the new one on time. Is my understanding correct?
  7. Hey @AmandaandChayne, I was just wondering if you figured this out? I find myself in a similar situation as I need to have my marriage entered in my country's records but then I have to have my passport renewed within three months! I wonder if it can possibly affect my pending AOS application where I used my current passport info?
  8. This is very helpful, thank you so much! I totally didn't think of this option and will check it out
  9. Hi all, thank you, I obviously know that I cannot leave the country without the AP. My question is, if I book my flight and end up not being able to fly (not having the AP yet), is there any insurance that would cover my flight ticket cost? I know some insurance covers if you're not able to fly due sickness and a loss of a family member but I this is quite a different case... I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this is all. But thank you and sorry for misunderstanding
