After 195 days since NOA1 on 6/28 (and 7/2 on new), We've got an RFE today... Discouraged for a moment but I tried to think positive. At least they looked through my case.

No mail yet but I checked USCIS new web site and it showed we got REF on 1/7. I have no clue what's wrong with our case though.. I thought we did it right. it's another waiting game.

I hope it won’t take long. We got an RFE after about 193 days of waiting. We got it done and sent it back on the 18th of December, they received it on the 20th, then we got approved on the 28th. The rfe means they have done with everything accept for that part they requested. Don’t worry, you almost there 😊

You can try to call and tell them to fax it to you so you can work on it ahead of time, and have all the information ready by the time the paper RFE comes in the mail. All there would be left is ship it! So it cuts back a lot of time depending on what type of RFE you get! I called and spoke to about 8 people before I finally got someone who was nice enough to fax it over to my phone (you can download a fax app for free). This was major key to help get the RFE done A S A P!!! Since we all want this process to hurry up, an RFE is like a rock in our shoe after waiting 5+ months for something!!!

Fair warning though....it took me several phone calls, and lots of "no, you will have to wait for the paper copy" or "it is not ready yet (yes it is, they know why you got an RFE) to make this happen but again...I learned this from other members and it was super helpful. Otherwise you will just have to wait the 5 business days for the RFE to come in the mail.

And finally....don't be discouraged and RFE IS NOT A NO!!!!!!!!!

RFE is not always  a bad thing,  at least your case is being looked at. Youll be fine don't worry.

There is no need to cry. Most RFE's are simple items like boxed that wasn't checked or a missing document all very minor things. An RFE gives you a chance to correct something in your submitted application that when corrected it will lead to the continuation of the adjudication of your case.

Once you get your RFE, read over very carefully as you only have one chance to reply accurately without causing undue harm. Once you know what it is set out to correct and to include "everything" they are asking for. Then reread the RFE to ensure you are compliant. Make copies of everything for your record and send back using their instructions which are contained within the RFE. If the RFE requires a signature, PLEASE don't forget this. Once received at USCIS your case will begin adjudication where the agent had left off. No one can tell you how long it will take so be patient.
