Hey everyone,
I would like to ask if anyone here filed an expedited K1-visa through military reason. I'm an active duty military currently stationed in the U.S. and I am NOT deploying anytime soon so I was wondering if anyone was on the same situation and tried to expedite anyways. If so how long did the whole process took? I called the USCIS number already just told me to try sending a letter of request anyways even if im not deploying. My fiancée is in the Philippines. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

As far as I am aware it is for military under deployment orders; but doesn't hurt like they said just to send in and ask and see. Worst case is they deny the expedite.

As I'm aware deployments can come up somewhat quickly but you usually know about it a year in advance, least that was the case for me for my three tours with the Army (except the second one got PCS'ed to another unit just to deploy without being told haha)

We expedited my visa under military (non-deployment) and financial loss reasons. You can always try but if the reason is military related they will ask for orders or confirmation of your situation that requires an expedite. They probably won’t expedite just bcs you serve the country.

Also for timeline: after the call and registering your expedite request they usually respond within a week with fax number for additional documents, then up to 30 days for the decision. If approved next is the NVC stage that goes with regular time processing.

Thanks for the info. How did that work for your case? Did they approved your request to expedite? How long did it took?

Generally no. Expedites for military mostly happen for deployment reason.

(Mil spouse here) you can always try but don't have high hopes. And please don't expect to be treated better than other couples who are also waiting, just because you're military. I'm always triggered by military thinking they are entitled to things..

Anyway. Even with expedite don't expect things to happen the next day. You'll wait months anyway.

Yeah.. I've lived among soldiers and their spouses for few years now, and this "I'm military so I deserve better" attitude is .. very popular.

Trust me I have been there and done that myself. Now that I am out of the Marines and alittle older it does get old really quick. Not to mention I do see it a lot because I work on a military base and my neighbors are military or retired military like me.

I used to be in the Combined Cadet Force and have never received preferential treatment.

Military members absolutely deserve better. And they do get a number of (well-deserved) perks. But those perks are also limited...they are not entitled to everything.

This situation is not one where an expedite is likely. Expedites are need-based in nature...and I just don't see where there is such a need in this circumstance...it's a want to go faster.
