Green-card final process

Hey

So I’m here in the US on my ESTA.  I have an interview date for my green-card in London (June 20th, which is still within my 90 days on the ESTA).  I’m wondering if there’s any way to simply pick-up while in the US?  I know about adjustment of status and how it’s risky but I’m talking about just moving the interview from U.K. to US since I’m here and have a job offer?

Of course, I plan on going back for the medical and interview but things would be a lot easier (and cheaper) if there’s a way to finish things while I’m here.

Interviews cannot be held in the USA. The interview is for a visa. Not a green card. The semantics matter here. A visa is a document to allow you to seek admission into the USA. You are already here. Ergo you cannot seek admission. Since you are here you can adjust status. But that seems pointless at this stage of the game - you would have to pay a whole bunch of new fees, it would take several months of being in limbo with no status here (during which time you cannot work or travel overseas - not even to go back and collect your belongings, return your keys to your landlord, etc). Once you arrive with your CR-1/IR-1 you are here as a permanent resident and it's all done. You can work right away. You can travel internationally if you need to. You can drive, get a credit card, etc. And you're on the road to citizenship already, if that should be your ultimate aim.

Go back to London, attend the interview, use your new visa to enter the US.

I agree with the first two responses.  At this point, why reset the clock and bring on the added headaches that @JFH mentioned while waiting for an adjustment while you are here.

If you adjust status, you won't be able to work until around the end of this year at the earliest.  If you return for your interview as scheduled, you could be back in the US and working in August or sooner........seems like a no-brainer to me.........good luck..

Do the right thing since you are already on the right path. Why go backwards? Your interview is in a few weeks. Go to London, have the interview, say bye to your family and friends and then move to US.

Not cheaper...AOS is expensive and you won't be able to work for a while. Plus you already have a return flight (requirement for entering on an ESTA), so only a one-way flight ticket would be needed to come back to the US. This alone makes it cheaper than applying for AOS.
