I was frequenting a music messageboard, dedicated to an alt-country artist who's music I love above and beyond anything else.

One day there was a thread about compliments and I was having fun with this person who's name I had seen on there before. We were both being wise asses and then I said something about the other person being a smart woman ... and it turned out it was a guy.

Oops.

So, I virtually blushed and apologized, and that's how we became friends on there. It took a bored day at work for him, my lazy saturday and a porn-spammer that drove us off the board for us to start emailing ... and chatting ... and texting and calling ...

I would have liked it if he had been living round the corner and not 5000 miles away in Michigan, but still: He's the bestestest thing that ever happened to me and I can't get my visa soon enough :)

We met in an on line role playing game called Everquest about 5 years ago. We were both in the same guild and used to group together and with other friends. We became really good friends but when he was off line for a bit when his PC broke down I realised how much he had come to mean to me. We met in person last year and are hoping to get married this year.

17th March 2010 - Started the removal of conditions process

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

I didn't meet my SO online, but I'm so curious about where the internet matches met their SOs.

Explain, please! :)

If it was a dating website, please say which one.

We met in a chat room unrelated to dating or looking for a spouse. We just connected and exchanged e-mails and MSN handles, and the conversation never stopped!

Met dear hubby through a credit card issuing institution that outsourced customer service support. Started out as friends ...Dear hubby is an existing customer and I used to be the QA officer..aihihihi. Although I've had a profile made by a good friend of mine in match.com I couldnt use it anyway unless I pay thru a credit card, I didnt have one . God bless to you all.

English isn't my 1st language. If anyone is offended/annoyed because of the way I constructed my sentences/replies/comments/essay etc.., I do apologize. It's a personal opinion based on experiences, and should be taken with maturity and discretion. Written statements do not express emotions or feelings, it makes it more difficult to determine what is being conveyed. It is subjective to one's own interpretation. Read at your own risk. IGNORANT STINKY LOSERS USUALLY GET VERY VERY OFFENDED!!!

Me and my SO other met through a dating web site. It didn't start that way though. We started out just talking. It was a number of months after that we actually started talking on the phone and from there a relationship developed.

We met in a Yahoo chatroom. It was his first time in a chat room, and while I usually went into Florida based rooms, I went into this room that was not state specific. He caught my attention first by asking if anyone wanted to get married. I thought was was so bizzarre to just through out in a chat room. Then after I asked where everyone was from and their age, location as being from Port Canaveral/Miami. He IMed me and we started chatting from there. He then said that he used to live in FL but was now in London. We clicked instantly and have really been inseprable ever since.

We met through another guy I knew online's msn address.. We talked for a little bit, I put him on my icq list.. and we didn't really like each other for a few months.. eventually we ended up talking more.. (not sure how that happened...) and eventually became really good friends.. That lasted for 2 years (he had another long time girlfriend at the time) and eventually they broke up and after a while, we got together... and now we've been married 2 years.. And its amazing :)

I voted other. My husband and I met in a Yahoo! Chatroom. I was the one who clicked on his name. I didn't think it would develop into anything too serious because he lived like 2-3 states away from me at the time...but things developed quite quickly and we fell in love and are now married!

I voted other, too.

My fiance and I met online in an MMORPG called World of Warcraft. My then-boyfriend pestered me to play at the time it was released and I reluctantly gave it a try. It quickly blossomed into a big thing for me, my relationship ended, and I joined a raid group that my fiance was in. After spending several months in each other's company, we realised that we had a great deal in common, and the rest was history.

We still play together, since that and Skype are what we feel we can "spend time together" with, hehe.
