Pretty good actually, thanks for asking. I'm just going to these interviews to bid my time, because I could've accepted any of the first three offers I received. Good thing is, for the first time in a long while there are more jobs than are qualified workers. So no one should feel like they're losing out on anything yet. Those jobs will be there when we're ready, at least for the near future.

Cool! Actually I am a bit worried because my first language is not English. I just graduated last year and not sure what jobs I should apply for. Kinda of difficult for me.

But you got so many offers, really nice. Do you tell them you are immigrants? Or they will ask you that ? May I ask what area of jobs you are applying for ?

You do not have to disclose anything about your race or cultural background. They technically should not even ask. If you make it a point of conversation, that's one thing but they can't hire/not hire based upon that.

That's right @Tomalley, no one can make you disclose that information if you do not wish to, or deny you an opportunity based on that. It does happen though now and then, but that's coming from ignorant people.

But I feel like if they ask you a question, you should answer otherwise it is likely they won’t hire you.

i am just curious that did you tell your interviewers that you moved to the USA ? Like all this immigration story? Or they even didn’t ask you ?

They legally can't even ask you anything about your race, sex, or anything like that. Any legitimate place will not ask. If you mention you just moved here and want to discuss it, that's up to you but they can't ask about it.

Also remember that there are SO many immigrants in this country. Just because you have an accent, doesn't even mean you are a recent immigrant. People have been living here 5, 10, 20 years and still have accents and carry parts of their home country with them. My husband has been here since April and has a strong accent. No one asks him about where he is from. (Unlike when I'm in his country and I get asked where I'm from 10 times a day LOL)

That is interesting, because I got to be asked a lot where I am from .. maybe because I am Asian ?

Thanks for your response

Hi @Tomalley, just want to share my experience. I was worried and a bit nervous too when applying job. I was afraid my English is not good enough. A week after I got EAD card I decided to just apply a job in person. I search on online post about the store or company who needs to hire employees in person (because I can understand English better  when I talk in person rather than talk on the phone). I found one on Craigtlist. It's at the biggest online retail company. I came to their place. Surprisingly, there's NO interview at all. When I came, they only asked me to complete their online forms, they borrow me the laptop to complete the forms, complete the drug test, and seeing the video about the company, the benefits and what we will do later on that position. And then, they take our picture for identity card just in case they hire us. Before we left the room, the HR person told us to wait for 5 days for the next info. It's said if we get email, that's mean they hire us. If not, then we don't get that job. Fortunately, I got the email and complete what they ask on email. After that, I watch the online training program for 1 hour 30 minutes (this is also be paid). Then just follow their instruction to come on training schedule.

I am just so happy and lucky enough to get a job only 2 weeks after I got my EAD card and it's at big company. I hope you also find the good one. If you feel worried with your English, i think it might be better to apply in person. This also can help you to communicate better.

Omg! Congratulations, thank you so much for your response! There is no interview for you at all? Is it a retail position? Like sales? Sounds wonderful, good for you! Where is your city btw?

Yes there's NO Interview at all. Only complete the online forms and fill up the games test (matching box games and very basic counting). It's not sales position. It's like personal shopper. And I'm so happy with it because one of my hobby is shopping. Lol

I live in Thousand oaks , CA.

Husband's EAD/AP combo card and approval notices arrived in the mail yesterday!!! Less than 1 week from when it was approved (Friday). It's amazing when USCIS things happen quickly, cus' it's not often. haha. He already started working since our roommate had an opening at his company. And today we're going to the MVD so he can get a renewed state ID (they only gave one with the expiration of the initial i-94) and so he can take the test to get a driver's permit.

Such a great feeling!! For anyone still waiting for EAD, just hang in there - it will happen soon!!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Hello guys!

I've been reading a lot of EAD approval lately and I just couldn't wait for mine!

I filed for Adjustment of Status on April 18, 2018 and my case was received on April 23rd. I didn't hear from USCIS after receiving the receipt notices, not until the last week of May where I got a notification saying that "a notice was returned to USCIS". I was sure it was my biometrics appointment. I created an SR but I didn't receive a response not until 3 months later.

Anyway, I did my biometrics on June 13th. The lost notice affected my application because they really can't do anything about my case without my biometrics, which I was supposed to do in May, and not in June. As a result, my application is 3 weeks behind.

I looked at almost everyone's progress and it looks like it will take National Benefits Center approximately 14-17 weeks after biometrics to process EAD/AP, unless you received an RFE. That said, since I didn't get an RFE, I may get my EAD next week of the following week. But I have a pending job offer and I called USCIS to expedite. The Tier 1 officer provided with SR number that I lost (bummer) and I wanted to talk to a Tier 2 officer for an update and also because my expedition request didn't show up in my Case History. Is this normal?

For those who haven't received their EADs yet, can you please share your timeline?

I look forward to your responses!

Just got an RFE. Asking for a I-94... I crossed through Canadian tunnel and they don’t provide you with one when you are going through land from Canada to USA. I had submitted copies of my passport and a print out from the border patrol website showing my last entry and thought that might be sufficient but I guess not. Anyone had this problem? My attorney thinks that if I provide an affidavit stating my last entry date and that I crossed through Canada that it will be good enough. Just trying to see if anyone else ever had this issue and how they dealt with it?
