Consulate Review: New Delhi, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 31, 2017
Embassy Review : My fiance arrived at the New Delhi embassy for his 8:00 AM appointment. The line for non-immigrant visas was very long, but the line for immigrant visas was separate and much less of a queue. Everyone was extremely helpful and really nice. He didn't have his fee receipt, but one senior worker advised them to print it out for my fiance. They collected the I-134 form, but didn't ask for any of the supporting financial docs (employment verification, pay stubs, tax forms, etc.).

He was given a token and waited in the area where the CO windows were located. He even met a lovely couple with their kids applying for a visa while waiting! He was bummed that he didn't have time to exchange contact information with them...hehe. He said the girl interviewed before him was denied, so that made him a bit nervous, but luckily his interview went well.

When he was called up to the window for his interview, the woman was very nice and only asked him a few, simple questions:

When/how did you meet?
Tell me about her visit in ___ month.
What are your wedding plans?
Do you have photos of her most recent visit to India? (he did, and handed them over for her to look through)

He said her attitude was very pleasant and she was smiling as he gave the answers. She handed him the 221(g) slip (I think that's what its called?) and said the visa cannot be issued right now since the medical results have not been received yet. He was sent for sputum testing which takes 8 weeks and the results are due to be final in one week. But she assured him that he is approved from the interview standpoint and once the medical results are received then he will be contacted to drop-off his passport to have the visa issued.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
