@geowrian is absolutely correct. When a person overstays their authorized time, the B2 visa is automatically cancelled.  They will have to apply for a new visa. Overstays are recorded on their permanent record, and it can affect future visa applications.

I have also read stories where people didn't learn that their visas were voided until they tried to board a flight......the law states that visas are automatically voided if a person overstays.  It is the responsibility of the visa holder to know that.

Unfortunately, this is a very tough lesson you have learned. Never, ever, book flights at the last moment your visa expires. Anything can happen. The only thing to do now is apply for another visa and pray for the best.

That is probably because they have not encounter customs agent as of yet. They have only left the US. The problem is people think that just because there is no voided stamp on their vise that it is still good. But when they try to reenter the US they are then denied entry and sent back home.

Again, this was a tough lesson learned. If they decide to try for another visa again let us know how it goes.

Good luck to you.

That's because they LEFT the US.....there is never any issues with a foreigner who overstayed leaving US soil.

The issue happens when they attempt to re-enter the US using the same visa.  You can bet they will be "notified" then.

What you are going to do, if you get a visa, is be careful to follow the conditions and not overstay so that yours too does not get voided.

Only if they are somewhere like a consulate.  As said already no one examines your passport on the way out.

Why blame US immigration when it's your parents who decided to leave at the last minute?

Immigration is just doing their job. Visitors have to follow rules.

The airlines are required to report the passport information of travellers arriving and departing the US. Those records are forwarded to CBP.

Your parents can check their arrival and departure records at the CBP I-94 site. I guarantee that the date they departed the US will have been recorded.

Sounds like a Visitor Visa anytime soon is unlikely, best to give it a few years before they try again.
