FIRST ATTEMPT, DENIED!

Hi,

 

I recently applied for B1/B2 visa (2 weeks ago) and got denied. I have an American boyfriend who I wish to visit. I have put his address as my accommodation but I declared that I will be paying for myself. I guess the consul got the impression that I will go there and get married and won't come back. I have no intention to do that whatsoever and just plan to visit for 3 weeks and come back. I'm working in Singapore holding a Philippine passport by the way. Been working here for 6years now. I plan to reapply after a month or so. Would highly appreciate if anyone can guide me on what I need to do.

I'd say let it go because there is a big chance you'll be denied again. 

 

Have your boyfriend visit you.

For the reason you mentioned in your first post - the risk of overstay. Sadly, too many of your country folk have received tourist visas to visit their boyfriends and family members before and then “forgotten” to come home. 

 

Singapore is nice - have him visit you there. And Malaysia is close by - one of my favourite places!

that won’t really help! just because u book a hotel it doesn’t automatically show them “oh a hotel, you won’t overstay your visa, there you have it” 

sadly it’s not that easy

Reapplying a month later won't make a difference....besides which, your previous denial will be in your file and they will look back at the reasons for that, and most likely deny you again.

Normally approved based on strong showing of ties back to the home country....your own financial stability, job, property ownership, etc.

As mentioned before, country of origin can affect it too.

 

Applying multiple times in a short span (without personal circumstances changing) can show a desperation to enter the US and usually results in multiple denials.

You're free to apply as many times as you want and have the means to pay the $160 application fee. But unless your circumstances have changed, the result will almost certainly be the same. Reapplying so soon is basically asking the CO to overrule their coworker.
