Called today to request an expedition on my EAD. I just did my bio yesterday.

I filed for two reasons under financial loss (I just got a job offer) and the humanitarian situation ( my husband's veteran disability symptoms get worse, therefore, he could not work.)

No responses yet, not even show up in the case history. I guess it could be my fingerprint hasn's been reviewed yet.

Just wanna share here and hope there are good news coming.

You will be fine just work with the congressman. Just wanted to explain how your TN truly is not that useful anymore, if you had a L1/H1B different story all together.

Just got an e-mail requesting more evidence in the morning. I faxed all the document use the phone app called Tiny fax, costed me few dollors, but it went through in 10 minutes. It wasn't that painful. so highly recommended that.

I requested expedition yesterday, and so lucky to get an e-mail today instead of a mail.

let us see what will happen next

Received the following three messages a few days after calling them for an expedite request. But I'm a bit confused as to what the next step is supposed to be. The message I circled seems to imply they sent a response. But if I'm reading you guys right, that response comes in an email, which we haven't received. Or is it supposed to be by mail? Or is the officer still reviewing it? Just confused

On the 21st, they asked you for supporting evidence.  Since you haven't received an email, it means that they mailed it to you.  I guess different officers have different preferences; ours prefer to mail things.

My letter took just over a week to get to me, so just hold tight.

Yeah we just got it. And this was the letter. Which is kind of stupid since we hadn't even submitted evidence yet. How can the evidence be insufficient if you haven't seen it? This just screams laziness. 20180927_154912.thumb.jpg.e467b1f485980c8b471a5f3adc0f04c4.jpg

How is it lazy? You haven't submitted any evidence other than what you told the person on the phone. They're letting you know that what you said on the phone isn't sufficient.

If you wanted to, you could have mailed your request instead of calling, including all of your supporting evidence.

At the end of the day, they don't have to accept any expedite requests at all; the fact that they do is clearly helping a lot of us. Alternatively, they can tell everyone to wait the 4-8 months it takes. You followed a certain procedure and you have to continue to follow it to prove to them that you have a case at all.

I guess I'm confused...again. Obviously I know what I said on the phone was not enough EVEIDENCE.I was expecting a "submit evidence here" type of letter. And this doesn't sound like that at all.

You did not pass test1. So you wont see test2. Resch out to your congressman.

Oh yeah you're right.  I guess that's the whole letter.  I thought they just modified the wording of the first paragraph.  My bad.

I think you're just thinking of this process in a way that's not quite correct.

You submit "evidence" for your AOS package--evidence of bona fide marriage, evidence of financial support abilities, all kinds of evidence.  While doing so, you're able to apply for a work permit (EAD) and a travel permit (AP).

In order to expedite the processing of your EAD, you need to submit proof that you truly need it expedited.  Meaning, you don't have to throw at them 500 pieces of "evidence", you need to prove you need the EAD now, as opposed to in a few months like everyone else.

In their letter, they stated that there is no evidence of the actual need to expedite your EAD, not that there is no evidence that you submitted.  Of course you didn't submit any evidence, you called them on the phone.  But they currently see no evidence that you even need the EAD expedited, and they're letting you know politely that while you may consider it "severe financial loss" per criteria, they do not consider it severe financial loss.

What did you tell them on the phone?  Either they really are cracking down on expedites, or you told them something they didn't think was going to change anything even if you submitted further documentation.

You cannot take any part of process lightly, the phone officer takes notes and passes to the IO who can respond auto reject, or whatever they please. Majority of the time resoonse is send tme your so called evidence of this situation. All other advice is spot on.

Hmm that's honestly the 1st time I've seen on the forum that they denied someone's expedition request even if you have the job offer ready.

Do you have any unpaid bills or loans? Any documents you can have to show you have great financial burdens? You can file another expedition request 15 days or so after the previous denial (correct me if I'm wrong).

And Since you only submitted the package on July (and 1 RFIE in Aug), they may not be very motivated to expedite your case (Just my opinion, it may not be true at all).

I'd say wait until the official denial letter or notification. Prepare all your documents and try to expedite again.

UPDATE:

My EAD was approved, I saw it in my mailbox yesterday. Yayy! The status on USCIS website had not changed until yesterday, but this morning it says that EAD card was delivered. The expedite requests were filed independently by congressman's and senator's offices. I had requested them to check my status for the original expedite request, but they ended up filing the EAD expedite requests on their own.

Nope I did not have any unpaid loans, just regular bills. My wife makes enough to cover for both of us, as per I-864. I never got any notification/letter about the rejection and the filings by congressman's and senator's offices. The EAD arrived in my mailbox yesterday.  The status had not changed until day before, since my application package was received in July. This morning I saw that the status says card delivered by mail.

Apparently as of recently , they don’t accept financial loss as a reason any more for expedite. Me and a member on here had that discussion and she called and that was what she was told maybe 2 weeks ago or so. Who knows maybe they saw this thread on VJ and everybody trying to expedite. Maybe you got a bad person to talk to? Idk. It sucks though. Hopefully my EAD comes soon.

The first person I reached over phone (officer who spoke after the call was forwarded) on (09/17) while making an inquiry was quite rude, and be honest could barely speak English. The  next day (09/18) I called again to try my luck in finding someone who was more polite. This person told me that my EAD was rejected. This same person told me that I could apply for EAD expedite again after another month.

Congressman's office filed for my EAD on the same day (09/17), but I came to know about it only on 09/20. And then senator's office mailed me on 09/24 saying they have also requested for EAD expedite. I had requested their services just to make an inquiry on my original expedite request, but they filed for expedites on their own. I don't know under what category they filed the requests. In my letter I had mentioned that I have no income other than salary which was going to stop. However I had made it clear that the position I had was a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with one of the most well known researcher in my field.

You got the offer in June with a start date in Oct. You didnt even apply for AOS until July/ So I think maybe because you had the offer even before you applied for AOS its not considered a change in financial circumstances- I really dont know. I can tell you if you re-apply you need to submit something different then what you already gave them. What else do you have that you can add?

Yes, the offer letter I had an expiry date in June. The documents I sent to congressman's office were exactly the same documents I sent to USCIS the first time.
