Wealth and Political position often go hand and hand in this country, and that inevitably creates many examples of multiple family members obtaining office.

 

While I don't personally support or like long Family chains of politicians, as long as we continue to have "free and fair" elections I think it is "tolerable". At the end of the day the people still need to get votes. 

 

I think the bigger issue is how much wealth and money plays into the election process. I think that is what helps these families extend their reach. It isn't just the name recognition. It's the amount of financial support they end up getting (not just from their own family but from other people who do so because of the name). While that money doesn't directly "buy" votes in this country (like in other places), it certainly makes their election much easier.

 

Campaign finance reform would go a long way to even the playing field.

It is hard to avoid politics families. The first one usually rises on his own but rest follows. Children goes to top notch schools, marriages with other wealthy families, use networks offered by their ancestor's privilege, they start life with a 20 point lead. Kennedy story starts all the way from maternal grandfather John Fitzgerald, he was a house Rep, also mayor of Boston. Father Kennedy was a high profile bureaucrat. Then you know the stories of JFK, RFK, Ted, Governator, now Joe III. A lot of Harvard graduates, if not some other IVY college. Very interesting family, but has a lot of sad stories that yield to Kennedy curse. If you guys ever come to Boston, make sure to stop by at JFK National Historic Site in Brookline, birthplace of JFK.

Typically with privilege how people identify you tends to be more important than how you identify yourself.

 

Internally Kennedy may see himself as a gay black woman...but externally he is white, from a well known wealthy family, and highly educated. His privilege would mostly come from his external characteristics, rather than his internal ones.

 

Also I think you'd have a hard time arguing that many democrats hate white males... That's a bit of an exaggeration.

They had alot of tragedy going on in the past. Not sure about present day, but with the two brothers murdered and the son's plane crashing.

 

All that money and power couldn't protect them..sad

 

Trump family doesn't have the same history as Bush, Kennedy's and Clinton's yet. But with all the appointing of family members going on, they are working hard to create their very own political dynasty.

We have that in some congressional districts in Michigan.  John Dingall retires, and his wife Debbie takes over.  We pretty much expect the same thing for John Conyers vacant seat with either his son or nephew taking over.  Fortunately for the folks of Conyers district, his wife has already been convicted of corruption.

I hate explaining jokes. Means I failed or something. You are what you are. If you identify as something else….you have mental issues.

 

I guess you have missed the feminists agenda. Everything is the white males fault. But….maybe they are Republican voters??
