Hmm... Thats weird. I was adviced by a immigration lawyer (who used to be uscis worker) to make one copy of each document, because she knows people rejected because of too many copies, I know it sounds crazy but it happens sometimes. Maybe Thats why they stapled it all together? She said it all is going on one desk of the same worker and some of them sometimes send it all back because of too much unnecesary paperwork, but they do not say it on the letter that they send You so I doubt that is the case, I hope you will straight it up. Also it is important to mention on cover letter that you are applying from K1 and the fee for ead and AP is already included, as the biometrics. Wish you luck, I have a feeling that I will get similar letter...

I-485 fees is $1140 + $85 for biometrics which brings the total to $1225 and the check should be addressed to Dept. of Homeland Security. The reason for rejection is usually incorrect fees or either 1 of your forms has a signature missing.

The only thing I can suggest is when you return it make sure you put a very clear contents page on the front.

I used a cover page clearly stating I was applying for 3 different things. Then I had a contents page listing everything. I also included a note that just clarified I didn't send a fee because I was applying in combination with AOS (I know this isn't needed). Make sure your AOS is on top followed by the AP and EAD so they can't possibly assume you are only applying for EAD and AP.

And im sorry if you already did the things I mentioned.

I wish you a speedy turn around time for this!

Thank you! You sound very well -organised. We had a contents page listing everything but we will send a clarification note about fee.
It just seems the cheque for AOS never got cashed so in that sense EAD and AP had to be rejected as there was no fee for them. And I have heard that AOS is done in one place and EAD and AP in another ( one in local office but I don't know which petition). Anyway, hope it goes better next time!

You know I wonder if it could be something along those lines because our petition had loads of additional papers and even today when I went through a copy of the papers I get a slight headache at the amount. And we may have made a mistake of not clipping anything together. So we described what it is that we include on additional pages and those pages got taken out. My husband drives me up the wall because he contemplates sending everything back the way they stapled things without unstapling and putting things in order and I believe it's better to put papers in order and clip them. :-)

The amount is correct, the address is correct and no signatures are missing...
The check is stamped where I wrote ''U.S. Department of Homeland Security'' with ''U.S. Department of Homeland Security Citizenship and Immigration Services'' - almost as if they were saying that I should use the whole thing?? but it's definitely not required...

Yes, I would do what you have said here for sure. It's better to organise it in a way that makes sense - the next person who looks at your application is probably not the same one who sent it back.

We sent our entire package in a very thin envelope with just 3 clips - one holding each of AOS, EAD and AP. We didn't use any staples but did use small paper clips to group the forms with multiple pages.

I am actually beginning to wonder myself if people who apply only for AOS (no kids on application, no AP, no EAD etc) get processed slightly quicker.

Okay a very odd occurance for me... I sent in all of our paperwork and got an NOA1 for the 485, but no NOA1 for the EAD I submitted. Has this happened to anyone else? When my husband called, he was advised to resubmit the EAD but we have already submitted it and I feel like they need to just actually look. Getting irritated already 😭

Hey, I'm in a similar situation. I sent AOS, AP and EAD together. I have the NOA1 for AOS and AP but not yet for EAD. The difference is, I signed up for the E-notifications. I actually received 3 E-notifications including one for the EAD. So I have the case number that way. When I track, it basically says 'on blah blah date we received your application for EAD..... if you don't receive the hard copy by March 25th call customer help line'.

So basically I am currently waiting for that date and then I'll call and ask them to resend the hard copy. If you didn't sign up for the E-notification you won't have any way to know if a case number has been assigned or even if it has be received for that matter. But maybe hang on a few more days to see if the NOA1 turns up?

See the thing is I only got one text notification and that was for the 485. My friend had a similar case but she said she never received anything regarding the EAD, and her husbands green card was processed in under six months so I'm not sure because now I'm confused. When my husband called they said they don't see a record of the EAD and I should resend it but I'm like ??? If you guys got the AOS, you definitely got the EAD as I sent them in the same packet. 😡

Oh I see what you mean now. That's definitely very frustrating. I'm sure some of these USCIS wokers are just incompetent. I would personally send it again.

So we went and checked the PO box today and sure enough the biometrics apppointment letter was in there. Scheduled for 3/22 which is great news. No sign of EAD NOA1 yet but the EAD is listed on the biometrics along with the AOS so I guess all is good in that aspect. I'm also assuming that the AP being absent from the biometrics letter is normal?
