I lived in 6 European countries (Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy) and have visited a total of 37 (or 38?) countries so far. Adding it all up, the United States is the best country on Earth. One of the few areas where we are near the bottom of all industrial nations is health care. It's just the way it is, and it's the way it is because we have a very powerful health care lobby that controls US politics to a large extent.

Maybe (universal) access to healthcare.

Quality of healthcare is top-notch.

Thank you.  There have been numerous posts in the past from CEHST members (mostly Americans, I would wager) who have said America isn’t all that great.

 

I haven’t lived in near as many countries as you, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in each of them, but the US is pretty darn spectacular, overall.

US is awesome but I dont think it would hurt to have paid family leave and more paid time off. I envy the Europeans who have 25-30 vacation days in addition to the national and religious holidays. Or when they have a kid they take fully-paid few months (some close to a year) of maternity/paternity leave. Cheaper higher education could also help. I came here with zero college debt but my wife still paying her student loans. Hopefully she will be done next year or so.

Yes what everyone here forgets to mention is the amount of tax you pay in Europe for having all that . How would you like paying 50-60 percent in income tax like in the scandinavian countries. 

 

What I find fascinating is that while maybe the choice of words is not the best . Who can deny that its not the truth. These places are absolutely that and no one who can decide lives there by choice . Is there a line to go into Nigeria or a line to leave the place ? 

 

Maybe take it from someone from that place and let that person make the decision ?

You are missing the point. Trump doesn't want people from what he calls ****hole countries to come here, so the guy talking in the video wouldn't even be here if Trump

SO MANY people cannot wrap their heads around this concept.  Countries that have so-called “free” healthcare are actually funded by very high taxes on their residents.  It can be argued that our insurance rates are rather expensive here in the US, and rightfully so.  But either way, you are paying for it, either thru taxes or a payroll deduction.

You posted all these videos like they mean something.  Since NONE of them show Trump actually saying what has been claimed, they mean... zero.  Other than showing that people have opinions.

That is true.  And what is “allowed” to be paid by an insureance company is ridiculous.  20-50% of what we would pay ourselves if we didn’t have insurance.  It’s all a big scam.

  Not necessarily. As we have discussed several times, many people on here who have lived in both the US and Canada have come out ahead in Canada and did not pay significantly more in taxes. My taxes (on income) were only slightly higher in Canada. In the USA, we are paying for a little health care and a lot of pork.
