What is your NOA2 date? We got approved Jan. 26, so we should receive our case # soonish. How were you notified that they received your petition? Just by calling?

Our NOA2 date is 1/23/2018. I just called because people with NOA2 dates close to mine were telling me their's were received. When I called they had actually received and already assigned us a case number. Our case went out shortly there after. It seems that the NVC is getting back to normal processing times if not faster. So I would definitely phone in if I were you. Option 1 then 5, good luck!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. In the meantime, fill out the DS 160 and pay the visa fee (you don't need your NVC number for this part), collect all your paper work, have your fiance get his immunization records from his doctor, etc. This way once they transfer your case you are ready!

I was thinking the same thing. Also worried about it going in the mist of Carnival in Brazil. Hope that doesn’t slow things down at the embassy.

I would consider Rio to be slow this week and next - let Carnival finish.

But, this wont affect NVC issuing the numbers.

Once you have these numbers - all the pressure is really off....the ball is in your court to begin the close-out process to interview...and you

really control the schedule as when it will work best for you.

I think a few of the Brasil beneficiaries are already in Rio - so this will be easy for them.

We have to work out the logistics from Campos do Jordao and probably having to stay in Rio for several days to do medical right before interview.

I'm traveling to Brasil right after Carnival, for 2-weeks, but I don't think it will workout that we can interview while I am in country.

I think Ana will do the interview solo...which I think is better anyway.

You cannot book the appointment (or pay the fee) yet but you can complete the DS 160. Give it a few days, they were taking about 30-45 days to process cases at the NVC and that has drastically improved so I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!

Thank you!! We will do that! Also, I thought the visa fee was paid in person at the time of interview?

No problem! I think that is dependent on the embassy. We were able to do ours online but that may or not be the case with your embassy.

Hi all :-) We received our NOA2 last week (the date was January 27th, though), and we are working with an attorney so we may not get our case number until they get written notification (they have been great to work with, and I don't have any complaints). I'm getting ready to deliver our first baby in the next week or so, and even though I'd like to call every day I don't think I'll be able to since I'll be on my own until my fiance gets his visa. Just wondering if any of you who called to get your case number have received written confirmation yet? And about how long it took to get that, if so?

I'm so pleased to see things moving faster now! Thanks to anyone who has an answer to this :-)

Hi! I've only received en email with an attachment that states the NVC received our case and that it would be forwarding it to the US Embassy in Dominican Republic. It was addressed to my fiance, showed our case number, USCIS number, my information and the embassy location.

and a big congrats on the baby! wishing you a peacful and joyful labor with a healthy baby to follow :-)

Finally checked CEAC now that it's back up, and our case is 'Ready', so I'm guessing it reached the Embassy? No idea how that took! As of last Friday afternoon, it was still showing "At NVC'. But hey, things are going so much faster now, and it's awesome!

Now I guess I (the petitioner) will be watching my mail for Packet 3 and the invoice #? Do I get Packet 3 or does the beneficiary? Oh and USPS Informed Delivery is experiencing problems, it appears. <_<

Thanks so much, that's very helpful to know and gives me lots of hope! I see you already have the interview scheduled, too, that's amazing. All the best to you!
