Anyone currently living in Philadelphia or area?  Would love to know more people in the area, who are going through the immigration process and are new to the Philadelphia area.

I am Canadian, (from Ottawa) living outside of Philadelphia and have been here since November 2017.

So.. I kind of messed up today and got a reckless driving ticket 98/70 in VA. I know VA is pretty strict about it. I already have all the advice and will be getting a lawyer. This is my first ever ticket. My question is, should I report it during my interview?

I know a lot depends on the court and what the outcome will be. Any experiences with this?

Well, it depends on you whether to go to court and try to defend yourself or pay the fine and have points deducted. If you decide to go to court and defend yourself well, you could be asked to pick up some driver education classes which could have the ticket waived. Btw, did you receive your interview notice already and is your local office Norfolk?

An update at last!

So,  I woke up to an email from uscis this morning saying an action was taken on my case that I should log into my account to check my status update.  Lo and behold!

"We are producing your card and will mail it to you

You do not need to do anything at this time

We will mail your Green Card, employment authorization document (EAD), or combo card (EAD and advance parole) to the address you gave us. It may take up to 120 days to deliver your new card.

Quick question: why does it give the option of green card when the update only comes under EAD status?

:huh:B-)

Because it’s an automated message for all the cards be it EAD, AP or Green Card

I am definitely going to defend myself and get a lawyer. I don't need points and a record.

I filed in NC and my field office is Raleigh-Durham. I was driving to MD when I got the ticket.

@N & A, In looking over what you have, I would say that it is similar to what we submitted except we did not send a copy of the NOA2 for I-129F.  I don't think that is nec.  We did not go for the AP, so did not send anything there.  I would recomend that you go to the USCIS site and verify that you have the latest form.  Look at both the Expiration date at the top right and the Form date on the lower left.  It is important that you have the latest form.

Hi Keith & Monica, I think I remember reading the NOA2 for i-129F is required for the AOS. Let's hope and pray that you don't get any RFE regarding that. But please make sure to bring a copy of that to the interview in the future! You don't want to be delayed any further. You may also get lucky that they won't need it. All depends on the IO who handle your case.

One more update, the combo EAD/AP card arrived today in a mini priority mail envelope.

So for I-765 and I-131:

NOA1 1/2/2018, Notice of approval 5/17/2018, arrival of notice on 5/21/2018, and card in hand 5/25/2018, 8 days after approval.

I just want to share my update. I woke up with an email from USCIS stating they had taken action to my case. And it said they mailed my card. Also today I receive I-797 for approval notice.

I had my interview on April 23rd and it didn’t go too well. The IO gave me hard time regarding to an incident a friend of mine got into which I wasn’t there. In the end of the interview she kept pushing bout that incident and gave me a handout saying the interview was completed and they had 120 day period to take action. It was so frustrating. After 1 month frustration of waiting, finally I can get some relief.

I-485 application:

PD date: 1/12/18

Interview date: 4/23/18

Approval date: 5/20/18

Expected card delivered date: 5/29/18.

No news of EAD or AP at this moment.

I checked bout website dhs and myaccount uscis. My account uscis gave me tracking number of my card package

Hi guys.

For those who asked or were wondering about getting a new SS card, after the Green Card, with the married name and without the wording "DHS work authorization thingy", I went to the SS Office last Friday to request my new card and everything went well. The officer told me it'd arrive in 7 - 10 business days. Luckily, I checked my Informed Delivery this morning and I saw there was a letter coming from the SS Administration. And it was my new card! Now, I just need to change all my docs and get my DL! Yay!

Yeah the SSA office was really nice when I went there a week ago to get the SS card changed to my married name since I finally got my EAD in the mail. The guy congratulated us on our marriage and congratulated me on getting my EAD. He asked me what kind of work I was looking for and I said receptionist hopefully as that is my field but I would take most anything. LOL He said good for you. I just need to go change my DL once my new SSN card comes. :) Will be nice to have everything in my married name then.
