What does this usually means?

We received an update from USCIS after being pending since last year due to background check. Anyone knows what is the meaning of the Notice from USCIS? We haven't received the letter yet. Thanks all in advance for the help.

It means exactly what it says they are mailing you the action they will be taking on your petition. Might be a Notice to Deny. What was your RFE?
All you can do is wait for the letter.

We didn't received any RFE request. This is the first notice we received after he did his fingerprinting last August this year. So after two months this is the notice we got.

It's most likely a Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID).

your timeline doesn't say any interview '  just said applied and NOA1 received

if that is where u are (just waiting for NOA2 ) sounds like you will be getting a RFE

USCIS requested a fingerprinting appointment which he went to last August. I believe the fingerprinting was because we have been pending due to background checks. We applied last year. Transferred to Vermont 3 months after we applied. Then been pending since August when we received an appointment for fingerprinting. Until then this is the notice we received. We hope its an RFE and not NOID

When we got an RFE, it specifically stated they were sending us an RFE.

I concur with the others that it sounds like a NOID. Maybe the fingerprinting came back with something? It's only speculation at this point, though. Please update the read when you get the details of the notice. Best wishes.

It's always possible, but not common. It usually only comes up when the petitioner has a certain type of criminal history, or they are unable to complete background checks as-is.

 Have only seen this when the usc has been arrested, accused, or convicted of awa crimes. 

 

Stubbornfilipina has your fiancé been arrested before?

That's the type of criminal history I was alluding to. But it also comes up (rarely) when they are otherwise unable to complete the background checks for whatever reason.

Interesting that they have done it if they couldn’t fulfill the background check, though I think there was one guy on here that lived in a small town and there a guy with the same name and date of birth as him that had an awa conviction and he had to do the fingerprints to show he wasn’t that guy
