A  man in Saudi Arabia has reportedly been sentenced to death on charges of apostasy after losing two appeals. 

Several local media reports identified the man as Ahmad Al Shamri, in his 20s, from the town of Hafar al-Batin, who first came to the authorities’ attention in 2014 after allegedly uploading videos to social media in which he renounced Islam and the Prophet Mohammed. 

He was arrested on charges of atheism and blasphemy and held in prison before being convicted by a local court and sentenced to death in February 2015.

Sadly this is the case in KSA. They adhere to a rather conservative sect of Islam called Wahhabi-ism. He would have been fine if he was just an Atheist, but he decided to post videos about it and that's what got him into trouble. But it does not surprise me at all because the KSA still puts to death those they find  doing "witchcraft".

Democrats' and Republicans, Conservative and Liberal all seem to see Saudi Arabia as an ally, and they are. That doesn't mean anyone supports the subject matter in the OP. Kind of bizarro magical thinking going on in regards to the comments so far in this thread.

 

It's sad and pathetic that anyone, anywhere, should be subjected to such persecution for any religious belief in this day and age. Having said that, this guy surely knew what the risks were given where he lived, have to wonder what he could possibly have been thinking.

It's a little hypocritical that Hillary runs on a platform of tolerance but gets a large share of her campaign finances from the Saudi royal family. Not exactly the models or tolerance and human rights.

I think you should recheck your Right Wing information sources. The accusation from early 2015 was the Saudis' donated millions to the Clinton Foundation, not the campaign. The former is a matter of public record, tortured into an alledged scandal. The latter is utter BS as you have scrambled the RW message over time and would be quite illegal.

While he is likely wrong with campaign vs foundation, the effect, and thus the premise of preferential treatment and corruption is the same. It's always funny when people start being pedantic over trivial errors to justify this stuff.

 

Anyways, I'm not giving Trump a pass, I acknowledge in his travel ban he did not include Saudi Arabia. I, for one, am tired of the US government capitulating to this country. Besides their oil they don't offer much to humanity as a whole.

The Clintons and Obama are still making speeches and in the news.  If they just fade away and let others take the spotlight....I for one will talk less about them.
