Interview - October 2016 Filer. What?!?! HELP

So as everyone may know (I've made several posts), I despise interviews. I have Generalized Anxiety and Panic Disorder, and ADHD. The idea of having another interview has been a NIGHTMARE. I even worried for months when I had to get an interview for my first British passport, despite quite clearly knowing I was a British citizen..

 

Skip forward to today, and I receive a letter, dated March 27, that "arrangements have been made for an interview on your application". WHAT?! I submitted over 1lb of paperwork when filing. I filed in October last year. I was approved for AOS without interview. It shouldn't even have been looked at until at least July, with the delays in processing time. What on Earth is going on? We aren't fraudulent. My husband came with me to the K1 interview, we did AOS without an interview and we sent everything we had. I've had NO RFE. Why are they looking at my case 7 months early and giving me an interview? 

 

My husband has had to pick me up from work and me leave early because this news made me begin to have a panic attack and sweat/shake at work.

People are sometimes picked at random for interviews at this stage, or perhaps they had a question about something that didn't really warrant an RFE or couldn't be explained with a piece of paper. Since you know it's coming, and you hate interviews (yet you have to go, unfortunately), is there a therapist you could see in the time before the interview that could maybe help you with some exercises to help you relax?

My sincere sympathies; I get 'stage fright' and it's almost paralyzing, so I have a tiny hint of how you might feel, but breathing exercises help me, and maybe a therapist could help you as well.

This is always I've noticed for those who applied for AOS with interview waived, so most likely that's the reason why you got an interview invitation for ROC since they waived your interview when you applied for AOS.

I'd say it's random, as well. Sometimes people just draw the short straw, it doesn't mean there is anything the matter. It doesn't mean they think you are fraudulent, or that you didn't send enough. In some ways, you are lucky to get looked at given the delays that are going on. I guess it was a bit unnerving when you didn't expect it so soon, or at all. Once you get through this hurdle, you haven't got to go for Citizenship, which means an interview, so at least this would be the end of that!

 

It sounds like your husband is an excellent support, take him with you to the interview. Good advice to see if you can find some good short term therapy too, it might help a lot. I really dislike interviews too, but they don't cause me as much distress as you seem to have. Sending you good vibes, hang in there

How do you mean I haven't got to go for citizenship? I thought I had to do an interview for citizenship anyway because of the test and such?

 

I'm just so confused why I have it. It's so early. I don't know why they're even looking at October filers. No one else in October (or even September, etc) has reported any status change. I'm really confused. A Stokes interview is literally a nightmare. My ADHD makes me forget things. I can take my medicine, forget I've taken it and ask my husband, then forget I've asked him and ask him again. I've only known about this for a few hours and I've already chewed my fingers to where 4 are almost bleeding. I see someone and may have to take stronger anxiety meds because of this but I don't think much will help in such a short space of time

Sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. But do not stress about it at all. It is just a part of process and like other VJ members mentioned they might have pulled you guys randomly. As long as you marriage is real (which i'm sure it is), you have nothing to worry. Actually, you should be feel better since your process is moving. 

Just relax, meditate, exercise or do the thing you must enjoy doing it and in top of that you are so blessed to have supportive husband. then why stress or worry? 

Regarding your Citizenship, cdneh is saying that you won't have to go for interview for a while since You won't be able to file before 90 days of your 3 years permanent residence anniversary.

Calm down.  That means you are almost done.  Just show up, do not kill the interviewer and you will be approved. Believe me everything is going to be okay.  I can understand why you worry, and for sure is secondary to your Anxiety diagnosis.  By the way, I am retired but I am a Board Certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist.  I have rarely seen a person being diagnosed of GAD and Panic Attacks both at the same time but I guess it is possible.  Panic Attacks can be very disabling. Lemon23 has a point, so RELAX again please.  I am sure you had some cognitive therapy for your symptoms.  Go over these techniques and do take some prescribed meds prior to the interview.  Consult with your therapist/psychiatrist prior to the interview.  Remember again it is your  anxiety diagnosis and nothing else.  You will do fine.

I can't wait for it to be over. I just don't know why I have an interview and why my case has been highlighted for one when I've filed in October. It doesn't make sense.

Because it's both a combination of chance and the fact that you didn't have one for AOS. An interview isn't a sign of anything wrong. As for why now, why not? Better than later IMHO.

For the same reason I had an interview notice suddenly appear 20 months after filing (Vermont filer), also with no RFE - it just happens.....be it random to fulfill a quota, a question that can't be answered by RFE, or some other reason.

 

Just play their stupid game and it will be over soon.

OP you are a constant worrier, bet you worry about not having anything to worry about

when things are going smooth.

GAD will steal your life & happiness you should speak to a psychologist (not only crazy

ppl speak to one)...Take deep breaths when the fear factor comes on & speak to yourself

that everything is going to be ok...repeat a song in your mind Bob Marley song ' Dont worry

about a thing, for every little thing will be alright...Stay positive best wishes in the interview

its like getting picked randomly to be pulled into customs.. these things happen, they have to fill a quota and picked u.. it will be easy and painless, trust me.. and you should not let this small thing overwhelm you.  u will be fine:) embrace it!  its fun going to the USCIS office and people watching.. get there early and have all your paperwork on hand and enjoy the people watching!!! trust me, it will calm your nerves! 

 

Also, you are from the UK.. that is so low fraud.. i have never seen a UK get a stokes interview so u wont have to worry about that.
