We got the “interview was cancelled” and “expedite was approved” emails a day apart. Once we got the “expedite was approved” email, the case status changed to “In Transit.” The day after, it changed to “Ready.” The interview appointment email/letter came 2 days after that (I also noticed that the case status was updated that same day the email was sent).

Hope that helps!! Congrats on getting the notification though! You’re almost there!!! :)

congratulations. it happened to me too but I'm still waiting for the interview date. I've been waiting sincerest Thursday

What time of day did everyone in Scandinavia receive your "Expedited was approved email" and your "Interview appointment date email". I would love to know please so I wouldn't be such a anxious person checking my email every 5 minutes lol Thank you 😊

My husband got his "expedite approved" email at about 9pm on 23 July and his interview appt email at about 5pm the following day. Hope that helps -- good luck!

This is wonderful 😃 Thank you so very much for helping me. Now I know to be checking my emails in the evenings and night. This eases my anxiety and will have me less checking my email all the time lol Thanks so much again 😊

Glad he's back home!

My husband traveled with his Danish residence permit and a photocopy of his passport, just FYI or for anyone else who may question this process. He explained to the border control that his passport was at the US Embassy in Stockholm and they didn't give him any issues.

Thank you! Also yes but a residency card is also a form of ID, he doesn’t have any kind of photo ID, at all, not even a drivers license, other than his passport, so he had no choice but to take it with him since you need to be able to present some form of photo ID to get on the plane (we saw about trying to get him a national ID but they don’t have pictures on those so it wasn’t an option)

Hello all, I have a scheduled interview at the us embassy in September and im wondering if anyone logistically have done this from Norway. I'm not in Oslo area so will have to transfer thru there or drive from home, either way I think it would plan on a night in Stockholm before interview.

Does anyone recommend a hotel or method of transport from hotel to embassy that's effective? These day I want to move as safely as possible including stay at hotels... Any tips appreciated

I stayed at Villa Källhagen which is located a couple of minutes walk from the US embassy. You can order meals with room service for an extra 150 kr. It's 15 minutes walk from the Central station to the hotel. Nice hotel, okay price.

I would stay at a place close to the embassy so I could walk there, I wouldn't trust public transport etc to be on time, it's too important to take the chance.

I stayed at "STF Gärdet" (which is a vandrarhem, a hostel) simply because it was very close to the embassy (you just walk across a field, took about 10 minutes) and because it's cheaper than a hotel (had already spent enough on immigration stuff at that point). I checked out before leaving for the embassy in the morning as I had to be out by noon but had no idea how long it would take at the embassy, the hostel gladly kept my bag there for me while I was at my interview, egen though I had already checked out. Good service, good breakfast. You have your own room for just a few hundred kronor. You can also buy bus tickets there, in case you want to take the bus to the central station afterwards.

I recommend it, very pleasant experience for a hostel.

Hi Everyone! My husband just had his interview. We are approved, just waiting on the medical exam results. :) We got it done on Aug 20th, so it should hopefully arrive soon!

Anyway, my husband arrived about 20 minutes early, and was asked to wait outside for 5 minutes for another staff worker to come. Once inside, he did the security screening. He said you are allowed to have anything but a laptop. They took his phone and placed it in a slot, and gave him a tag to retrieve it. After that, he waited 5-10 mins before being called to the counter. The woman asked for his: personbevis (counts as his birth certificate and our marriage license since we got married in Sweden), police certificate, financial documents (both I-864 from me and our joint sponsor, and only our joint sponsor's taxes), and proof of relationship. He said the woman also asked him how we met, and who the joint sponsor was, but this wasn't part of the interview. The documents were scanned and returned to him.

Lastly, after waiting another 5-10 minutes, he was called to the next window where the CO was training someone. He was asked:

Where does your spouse live?

How did you meet?

How did the relationship start?

When was the last time you met?

They also asked a few questions about his last visit to the US because apparently there were notes added to his file (he was here in March when the pandemic started) but it did not relate to the interview. The CO was just confused about why the notes were there.

All in all, it took about 45 min between the time he entered and left the building.

Thank you both for quick replies. That gives me an idea what's around there and being there the morning of is probably best. Again thank you both.

We stayed near the train station and ended up taking an Uber, which was affordable (and worth it). The driver had a plastic partition in his vehicle as a covid precaution.

Can the spouse ( petitioner)attend the interview?

The interview is for the applicant.

I suppose you could ask the Embassy whether it's possible for a spouse to attend...

I am the petitioner and while I was present at the Embassy for my husband's interview, I remained outside.
