Since she is not his child he cannot obtain dependent coverage for her. Due to privacy laws I don't think he can obtain any insurance coverage for her, the best he can do is pay the mother the cost of the insurance. Morally yes, it would be nice to have insurance on the child. Under the I-864 (I assume you petitioner her) it would be really nice.

Poor child stuck in the middle of this.

What's her and her daughter's legal status? How old is her daughter? She might be eligible for Medicaid & CHIP which don't involve you at all.

She might also use or abuse your affidavit of support so beware and contact your lawyer to get some guidance.

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

On a sidenote, they've been gone almost 6 weeks now...and it STILL feels like someone has kicked me in my chest.

Six weeks is not that much time when you thought you would share a lifetime together.

1. May I ask what is stopping her from providing health insurance for her own child?

2. You mentioned that she abandoned you and her child but she also took the child away. I am assuming the child no longer lives with you (nor with her). Is that right? Does the child no longer reside with you ever?

I guess I mis-spoke, or mis-typed or whatever. Her and her daughter left me. I call that abandoning. However, as was stated above, she still contacts me for help. Disillusionment has been filed, (about a week and a half ago.) Looks like the end of October we'll be done. She wants to keep me as a 'step-father' for her daughter, (she's 8.) I am having a real problem with that.

Anyway....I'm not sure if this is the forum for marital advice...PM me if you'd like. Any of you. I'd like to think I still have some friends left.

She only wants you for the monetary benefits as a 'step father' for her daughter.

Now she wants you to pay for her health insurance. What next? Disney world holiday trip? College funds?

She has chosen her path for her own selfishness.

You should cut ties/contact with her once the divorce is final.

You don't owe her anything after she has hurt you so much.

I'd like to so much be a #######, but it's not in my nature. I plan on blocking her number once it's final. I guess that's a step.

Nope. :no::no::no:

You are not married to her anymore.

So you don't need to put your name and credit score on the line for her (in case she skips town).

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

I was going to say this. Medicaid is probably an option, if not, there are obamacare plans. Children have an easy time with finding affordable/free plans, so I wouldnøt worry.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
