My husband failed him physical exam - final interview next week

I just can't even believe how badly he messed up. He had his physical today which is required before his interview at the embassy next week.

We won't know until his interview next week but in all likelihood, he is going to get denied. We started this process 14 months ago, and now we might have to wait 12 months before starting all over again.

I literally moved into our new apartment this weekend, that was meant to be a marital apartment. I unpacked all of the dinnerware and wedding presents that I had stored away for over a year, waiting until we were close enough to getting him visa to use them.

I can't do another two years living on different continents. It requires so much time, energy and money. I just can't believe it right now.

Any advice? Our lawyer is looking for other lawyers that have more experience in this type of issue.

You don't say why his medical was bad I'm guessing because of drugs?

Then he did the right thing by answering truthfully.

He will most likely get random drugtestet for a year and then he can do the medical again.

And if it is drugs then he made a bad choice in life and a lawyer can't help him with that.

Well if you're afraid to talk about it online then there probably isn't much anyone can do to help or give you guidance. The truth is always the best route.

1. You don't have the results of the medical exam nor have had the interview yet, so I wouldn't panic,

2. You can prepare yourself for the possible consequences, but since you do not want to talk about it here you will have to do some research on your own. Use the search tool.

You are not alone. There are many with medical exam issues. Several have been through the drug admittance journey....if that is even the issue.

He did the right thing by being truthful, and unless it was serious drugs recently, or convictions, it probably won;t be a permanent denial, but there may be a delay in getting the visa while he undergoes random drug testing.

He didn't mess up by being honest, he messed up when he used drugs in the first place.

That is, if it's what happened. I am assuming so.

I hope you weren't hard on him for doing the right thing an being honest about it.

You will probably need follow-up drug tests, depending on the nature of what he admitted. (ie if it was recent or past drug use, how often, which drugs, if he sought treatment).

I have heard of people who were only asked to provide one extra randomish sample and then they were asked about it more during the interview, but these were for admittance of a one-time past use of marijuana.

Obviously people with a criminal drug history do not have much choice, out there for all to see.

Always wondered what percentage of applicants who have drug use but not been caught admit to it at the medical? Tiny?

I assume the OP knows about his drug use, otherwise there is a much bigger problem.
