Just recieved a text msg about a new update in my online account went and checked says "new card being produced"

Exactly 15 month of waiting

Congratulations! Finally! :-)

Congratulations to everyone receiving their green cards recently. I'm a long time lurker on this thread and it's been a great help and comfort at times to read everyone's stories and know that my turn would surely come. I wanted to add my information to the thread to help those that are trying to keep track of the process and to make sense of the timelines.

I filed for AOS in August 2014, and was fully expecting to receive an RFE for a new medical as so many others have recently - my K1 medical would have been dated February 2013, and we waited an extra few months after receiving the fiance visa before I made the move to the US.

However I was excited to get an email notice that the AOS decision was approved and welcome letter mailed on Friday - I received the NOA "Welcome Letter" yesterday, and should have GC in hand within three weeks. :)

No RFE, no medical renewal, just the NPIW and one Request for Service/update in May (which was useless!). It's almost exactly 11 months since I sent the AOS packet.

I had actually just sent in renewal petitions for my EAD/AP, due to expire in October, which I will now no longer need - I recall reading one user's post who had a similar situation, and wondered if the renewal EAD/AP paperwork somehow jumpstarted the AOS case. I don't know if it's luck or coincidence, and the internal workings of the USCIS will remain a frustrating mystery, but a sensible system would allow cases to be transferred to the Adjudicating Officer if they request it. My thought process would be "why work to approve these two petitions if I can approve just one?"

Good luck to all those still waiting!

Great news and about time too!

Wow, that's a surprise. At least finally it's moving now. What kind proof of relationship they are asking for? I am also wondering why they asking G-325A for the petitioner. I did not send my husband's and any proof of our relationship.

They are asking for stuff like joint lease, evidence of comingling of finances such as joint bank statements and joint filed tax return, joint property ownership, coverage under insurance, and photos of us together.

Oh okay. It does not sound really bad compare to RFE for redo a medical. We have all of those proof of relationship if they ever asked from us. Your wife lucky does not have to deal with any kind of medical things especially if she hates doctor like I do. :D

Hey, I received a response to my inquiry sent 2 months ago to the Ombdusman office. Your case is similar to mine...I will call wednesday if I do not receive any update. Here is the email :

The Ombudsman’s Office has determined that USCIS is actively reviewing the application or petition referenced in your inquiry.

Please contact USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 if you do not receive correspondence within 10 days. Because USCIS has taken action, our office will be closing this matter.

Thank you for giving the Ombudsman’s Office the opportunity to assist you.

After one year waiting. I received today a letter (Dated back to first June) requesting copy of marriage certificate and new medical examination form and vaccination.

Here are my notes:

1- They requested New Medical and Vaccination and copy of marriage certificate, but I already provided all of these last year. Medical being expired is NOT my fault ??!!!

2- The office that should handle my case is Saint Paul, but the office actually handling it is Long Island - New York. WHY ???

3- The RFE letter got to me 20 days after its original date because they right my apartment number WRONG !! ??? Thank GOD It is landed in my inbox eventually !!!!!!

Anyone knows or dealt with Long Island NY office? Do you know how much it takes to reply to RFE usually??

It is such frustrating that I have provided with everything they want, but now I still have to pay for redoing my exam (which is expired because of their delay) and wait ages again.

Watch out everyone, your mails from USCIS might land somewhere else. lol

Good Luck everyone

Peace :)

Blackknight, we feel your pain. It's complete bs to have to redo medicals because they're inept. Ours went to Tampa instead of San Fernando valley in Los Angeles. Who knows how long it'll be before we hear something (we mailed medical exam results today). Call around to compare prices. We found one that charged $88 for K2 and $100 for my husband. Literally everywhere else was $250+ Each!

Before getting the medicals done, I sent a letter questioning the unnecessary redo of medicals due to USCIS taking too long, and so far, no reply. In my fantasy world, they get approved because our IO realizes he/she doesn't know the process and green cards miraculously show up in the mail. But the reality is we followed the instructions and still we will wait. This process makes me wish we'd done it the sketchy way and just gotten married while he was here visiting. Were we ever stupid!!
