Have a quick question about the I-864. I am helping someone and when I go to the uscis.gov site and bring it up for my Part 2 section about the Immigrant address where it has the State she has a drop down box and it only has the 50 US states for the immigrant. I have no such drop down (which you shouldn't have I wouldn't think).

Has anyone one else run into this issue its Part 2, 2d Principal Immigrant address section?

mine as well has a drop down box. I just checked , since my husband doesn't have a state I left it blank the first one when you hit the drop down box is a blank then after it , its the states

Well she said she is using Google Chrome. That might be it also. Never heard anyone speak of a drop down. So you can leave blank. Even though its Nigeria and they do have states.

im using IE and it has drop down boxes so should be the same for everyone but not sure. and she is right its only US states so not sure what she does or what anyone has done for that coutry. sorry!

I'm helping someone fill out an I-864.

I recall when I filled out the I-864ez, there were a number of things in there that if done incorrectly caused you to get a checklist (e.g. not writing N/A or repeating the address in Part 3 sections 8 and 9.)

Are there any such "issues" that we should be aware of when filling out the I-864.

The I-864 instructions explicity state to leave items blank in lieu of "none" or "N/A". Is that the case?

The instructions also state to copy the income listed in box Part 6 Section 5 into box Part 6 Section 6c to compare that number with the Poverty Guidline. It seems odd when in box Part 6 Section 10, it asks us to total all lines from Sections 5, 6c, etc. Has anyone had issue with not copying the income from Section 5 to Section 6c?

I am 'officially' in my 2nd NVC thread. NOA2 1/23 and confirmed receipt of all three cases on 2/18. I find it funny that our 42 days until a Case # puts us on April 1st! **groan** I will be calling to check for updates in the later half of the month (probably 30-35 days) and really hope to get the numbers before then

Keep in mind, in some cases, the I-864 is filled out with the immigrant in the US

But, for IR-1/CR-1 cases, the immigrant won't be, so skip the state drop down, and if applicable, put it in the 'Province' line if there's a state/province/region for their country.

There are lots of petitioners that reside abroad with the foreign spouse. That in itself isn't grounds for a denial. The US petitioner simply needs to prove their US domicile. If you read the NVC wiki I wrote, I provide a long list of ideas for proof.

The DS-261 is a moot form if NVC has both your email addresses. All correspondence is sent by email if they have your email addresses. There's nothing for you to worry about.
