I spoke with the NVC today and the agent I spoke with provided me with some updated information regarding their processing times and procedures.

I know that some of the tracking spreadsheets linked to here show an average processing time at the NVC of 60 days. I do not believe that is true in the current environment which is swamped with illegal immigrants including the processing or around 30,000 unacompanied children. So we must adjust our expectations as kids come first, whether the are following legal or illegal immigration procedures it seems.

Our case was completed at USCIS on June 11 and received by NVC on June 18. Although we recieved our Case Number and Invoice Identification Numbers in about 2 weeks, it was then another 2 weeks until our case was available for further processing. On July 22 I received notice that our DS261 - Choice of Agent and AOS Fee Bills were available online. I completed the DS261 and the AOS Fee Bill that same day, July 22. However, our IV Fee Bill is NOT available. The agent told me this morning that it will NOT be available until the DS261 has been reviewed and this is now taking up to 30 BUSINESS DAYS. If that is correct it will be early September until we can pay the IV Fee Bill and complete the DS260 (we are ready with all the documents).

I forgot to ask the agent on the phone, is the DS260 and IV Fee Bill both available at the same time or is there another 30 Business Day delay? Can you share your information and experience please?

We have adjusted our expectation from 60 days to 120 days so we are now hopeful we will have our case completed October 15. Best of luck to everyone on their journey!!!

Not to put a damper on your timeline but I think that is even unrealistic given the current environment and my experiences.

Please see my timeline, but I am HOPING for October 15 as my best case at this point. And I submitted my IV documentation on July 19th.

60 Days from filing of your DS-261 from the time they receive it until you can file your DS-260.

60 Days from filing of your DS-260 until you can hope to have a case completed assuming everything is perfect and you are not missing any supporting documents.

Another 30-45 days from there when your interview might be scheduled.

In MY opinion, and I am NOT an expert in this process by any means, I think your best case should be mid-late November or early December.

Best of luck to you.

We received the following status document from NVC today. Note the dates. The documents that the NVC received was the IV package for the beneficiary (police certificate, marriage certificate, etc). I hope this helps.

04-AUG-14 - Today

Dear Sir/Madam,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 10-JUN-14.

We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents received.

We expect it will be at least 60 days from the date we received your mail before we complete the review of your documents. We will notify you when we review your documents.

We are working to reduce these processing times and we appreciate your patience.

Thank you for all the information and sharing your experiences. It really does look like each of the steps is close to the maximum 60 days now.

It is a shame as the DS261 should only take a competent person about 10 to 15 minutes to review. Instead waiting an incredible 60 days. Only the government can have such a crazy process. It seems that unless there is a correction made soon our case could easily extend towards the end of 2013.

Keeping my fingers crossed for us and all the other petitioners that our cases are processed more quickly!

I am in favor of the $60,000,000 in air fare that it would cost us to do that, at a rate of $2,000 per child. That # is actually probably about 60,000 children by now, so make that $120,000,000 to send them back on planes.

transfer them by military air cargo airplanes, that will save america lot of financial problems later, wellfare and healthcare and manythings
