What's your back-up plan?

For all those K-1 applicants out there. Let's say you pass the medical, have a clean police certificate, never done drugs, and your petitioner meets the financial requirement. Yet the worst still happens and you get denied. What's your plans from that point? As far as I understand a visa denial bars you from coming to the USA on a ESTA and visitors visa.

Has anyone prepared for the worst?

On the occasions I've seen that happen, the advice seems to have been 'marry and reapply for CR-1.' Because the issue that would keep you back would be failure to get them to believe you were really going to marry the person, at that point, I think.

It would depend on the reason for the denial.

Yeah, I meant that the USC had flown to the beneficiary for getting married.

Either marry and apply for a CR1 or you go and live in his country. Or third option (if he doesn't make enough money to bring you to the UK) he moves to another country with less stringent requirements and you both emigrate to there.

While I truly 100% believe this potential worry would have no merit, it was something I did research earlier. The engineer in me wanted to know.

I found this article. Granted it is from 2006. But it did warn against just ignoring the K1 denial and marrying. Because I'm not a lawyer, and i don't know if this article is true, or full of horse manure, personally, if for some reason my fiancee is denied on her interview on Monday I will do the following:

A. Drink heavily
B. Deep sorrow with friends
C. Ask for a scan of whatever the embassy gave her
D. Hire an immigration lawyer for help to ask for my next step

Personally though, I'm already planning a major celebration on Monday when I get the good news. She has every form she needs, and every form she doesn't. And we've been in a relationship for 7 years. As long as she remembers my name is Michael and I'm an Engineer in Arkansas with no siblings instead of telling them I'm Frank, a fisherman from Alaska of a family of 12 I think I'll be fine.

Ok after reading the link I have more worries. When I flew out to England in April 2012 to meet in person for the first time after knowing each other online for 4 years previous we did get engaged the last day of my visit. After that he's had three visits to the USA to see me.

Just relax. The link, again, is 7 years old. There's no telling how much has changed.

If anything, just know ok, if this doesn't work, even though it should have, I should probably find out why. And in my case, if it doesn't work out, I'll just hire a lawyer and ask for help.

Oh I just read in the same article they aren't supposed to deny if it was information already in the petition when it was approved. And in the petition I stated we became engaged during our first visit.

I think you people are just stressing out over abosolutely NOTHING.

I'll tell the story about when my wife (then girlfriend) went to her K-1 interview... As we are sitting there, another couple (he USC looked about 60 y/o, she Costa Rican, 25-30) goes up to the window for their K-1 interview with the IO. He started asking her questions... everybody could hear them because they have to use a speaker since the glass seems to be missle-proof. The IO asked her what his last name was... there was a moment of silence, and then she turned to him and asked "What's your last name?". I kid you not. It got a chuckle out of the other waiting couples. We got called to another window shortly after so we didn't know how it ended for them. I kept telling my girl that's what happens when you are not prepared, especially since she either paid him or she was just using him for a visa.

3 days later, my wife went to pick up her passport and guess who was also there picking up hers... "Ms.I don't know his last name". If your relationship is real, and you are truthful, I would not worry about it.
