My wife hates it if I bring home something used, she always insist on buying new. And if she she see any holes in my shirt she insist I throw it away even if its a work shirt and makes me cuff my pants if there a bit long. Uses a pic like object to clean her ears.

I'm the foreigner in this relationship but i'm not entirely convinced i'm the weird (Sorry, quirky ) one!

I insist shoes come off before people come in the house but i don't think that's a British thing, lots of my visitors leave them on only to get sent back to the hall to take them off...

Knife and fork for every meal, my husband only uses a fork! I also put the knife and fork together in the middle of the plate when i'm done. That's kind of normal here. When i was a waitress we would assume people hadn't finished if they didn't do it.

Lock all the doors. Again not sure if that's because of where we live at the moment but it took a while for him to get used to locking it all the time (we both live in England at the moment).

I can't think of much more, even though in every day life there must be loads. I have changed my ways a lot and so has he. Our house is very much made up of mixed traditions but it works for us.

We also speak a mixture of British and American English all the time. We both understand both variations yet others tend not to when they visit etc.

I don't think I have ever met anyone in my 36 years in Sweden who does not take the shoes off at the door. I don't get why you would leave them on?

I'm cool with people who want to be shoeless in their home, but it kind of annoys me when they insist guests do it too. My sister and brother in law always ditch the shoes when they get in the door and make their kids do the same, but guests can do what they want.

Good habit to develop: when you walk in as a guest and see shoes at the door either take yours off or ask. I'm bored and raised in America in a home where it wasn't a rule or habit but after living in an apt with nasty carpet, I insist that everyone remove shoes at the door. It took a good two years and a LOT of cursing and bithcing to get my brother to develop the habit when visiting my home.

Precisely! We were out looking at a house today and noticed the home owner didn't wear shoes so I asked if he wanted us to take of our shoes. The others more or less was half way through the house before they heard me and turned around. More accurately, they heard the home owner answer my question with a "yes please".

OMG, when we lived in France, I thought it was just my husband being weird for cutting his food with the side of his fork, but I've realized most people here do it too! I still have to understand why people prefer to struggle, rubbing their fork frantically on their meat for 5 min, instead of nicely, easily and quickly cutting it with a knife...

Knife always on the table for me too, even if I'm just eating salad.

And fork and knife on the plate when I'm finished if eating out to signal to the waiter that I'm done. Again, I understand better why my husband had problems with it in France and sometimes waited for ages to have his table cleaned, lol!

I find it odd that he doesn't eat like Romanians do (we all hold the fork/spoon/knife exactly in the same manner - the proper one should I add).

We carry three to seven armloads of wood a day into the cabin eight to nine months a year. The rest of the time we are in and out of the cabin working on stuff all day. So it would be taking your boots off ten or twenty times a day. Steel-toed laced work boots.

We don't know any people who make us take our boots off at the door. Not much point to knowing someone like that here.

that vid is wrong.. Knife and fork are around the wrong way... lol joking joking. I'm left handed so I must ALWAYS "do it wrong" Everything else I do though...
