Need some advice. Friend of mine met a Russian Lady

Good morning,

I was hoping to get some help from anyone here who might be able to give some advice to a dear friend of mine.

He met a month ago a beautiful young lady on a dating site who is from Plesetsk Russia. They have been writing via

email only for the last month. They have sent each other pictures of themselves and talked only by emails.

He has asked her for some recent pictures and for her to share with him pictures of where she lives, like her apartment all stuff, just like he did with her.

He wants to get a feel for who she is. What her likes and dislikes are.

He has asked her if he can call her and she says she has no phone, that she has no need for one. So he asked her to chat with him on facebook or messenger or something like

that so it feels more personal when talking to her.

She says she never heard of facebook and has no idea how to do chat.

Now, this is a woman who went to college and seems very educated, yet she plays as though she has no idea how to do anything. I am concerned because I think there is more to this

then she is letting on. She tells my friend that she has no computer either and her only way of contact to him is she walks to the library at 11:30 at night to use their computers so she can talk

to him.

His wonders if this is true, are libraries really open that late where she lives and how is it she can upload all these pictures to a library computer and create a profile on the dating site where he found

her yet have no idea how to chat or anything else with him.

Here's the kicker though, From like the 2nd or 3rd email, she has been confessing her undying love for him. Telling him she wants to come to see him, and that she loves him with all her heart. This all being said within a week of them talking through emails.

He has told her several times, that he likes her but that he of course is not in love with her for he hasn't even met her or talked on the phone with her. Which by the way he has said to her like 2 different times that he wants to buy a calling card to mail to her so she can call him on his cell phone but she makes no remarks about it, as though she didn't even read that.

He told her that he would like to meet her and maybe next june or july when he can get some vacation time from work, he can fly her here to see him. She has ignored that time frame which he can have her come here, and she runs to a travel agent to make plans but says it just cost too much and then she mentions the cost and these words, " visa" " medical" , and a couple of other things I can't remember right away.

For me, these are read flags because she says if she can't have him, she would rather not live at all. I am concerned for him, cause she is not addressing his concerns.

Oh, and the other thing is she told him that she has gone to her parents and they have released her to him and she told her parents that they are both very much in love and want to be together.

I have told him several times that he needs to run for the hills, something is very wrong here.

But he has asked that I come here to VJ and ask some of you that live in Russia and are familiar with Plesetsk , hoping that some of you might be able to answer to him some of his concerns.

Like- is it possible that she has no computer, no phone, doesn't know anything about facebook or chat, and are the libraries really open that late? So any advice on how he can better communicate with her and info on her home town, seeing that she really won't share anything with him.

Don't know about her stories of no computer, phone etc but the rest of this story sends chills down my spine and huge red flags!!!

My husband and I realized we loved each other but didn't say it until a long time after talking and he never mentioned anything about visa until after we decided to marry and due to my having young children it was going to be best if we apply for the visa and he come here at least for now.

She doesnt know facebook, but she knows how to upload the photo, and operate a dating profile? She has not talked to him over the phone, and doesnt seem to make effort for this, but she is in love with him. And she knows about visa, medical & travel cost! Great knowledge! Seems too confusing.

All I would say, tell your friend to take the time with her. Honestly sometimes she can even try to control him for so many situation, so better to be careful with such people.

Yes - this is a scam.

Run - don't walk.

If you want to prove it - just have the person make another gmail account, and send an email to this "girl" --- you will get the same sort of emails.

If you want to play with the scammer - start several accounts and then mix them up - it's fun!

I have seen this many times. He is being scammed. RUN< RUN< RUN from this woman. In fact, it may not even be a woman he is communicating with. EVERY Russian woman has a phone. Nobody falls in love after a few emails. All he sees are a few sexy pictures and is thinking with his small head, not his big one. Total scam. Period. Yes, he should drop this person, come to the RUB regional forum where we will steer him to the good agencies and how to undergo this process.

I did and I'm happily married....the scammers are easy to spot.....like this one.

A definite scam!!! To many red flags they are just on top of each other. I bet the photos she sent is not even her and like baron555 mentioned most likely not even a woman.

I will bet that she is also smoking hot blonde!!!

You know, you are so right. The fact that you and your husband took things slow and never mentioned a visa or even said the word love to each other right away is exactly what I keep telling him.
