Embassy Review : So, we had our interview at the montreal embassy. My fiance went alone, for I could not be there with him. So, here's his story.

Rick arrived at embassy at 7am. He was first in line. He parked at medisys and it was only a 7 minute walk to embassy. He stood on the left side of the door and the security guard opened doors promptly at 7:30am.
After walking in the door, a woman meets you and checks you off both of her checklists. She asks for appointment confirmation printout and passport. She put a sticker on the back of the passport. He then went threw security where he had to empty his pockets, take off coat and put everything into a bucket and go through metal detector.
He walked threw metal detector and it went off. He had on steel toe'd winter boots. So he was wanded and then sent through.
They kept his car keys and cell phone for him to pick up after interview.
Rick waited right beside the elevator, and then the guard came promptly at 8am and opened the elevator and told everyone to go to floor 19 window 14B.
When he got off elevator, he followed the arrows on the floor right to the window. He stood in elevator toward back and left and he was the only one facing the rear of the elevator, thanks to VJ.
It was only 5 minutes from the time he arrived on the 19th floor till he was called to the 1st window.

1st window- she asked for passport, confirmation of appointment letter. She gave him 2 tickets of C-1 and told him to go sit down and wait to be called.

There is a large screen in the middle of the room that calls out your letter and number.
Ricks said C-1 window 12. He was called to window 12 ( which is the 2nd window at 8:15am)
Window 12 was down the hall away from the waiting area.
At the window he was met by a very nice black lady who asked him for his passport, letter of intent
and asked for the medical envelope. She also asked for proof that the visa was paid for.
Rick was given 2 sealed envelopes at medisys that was stamped with the words "do not open". One envelope was white and the other was brown.
She took the one white envelope from him and gave him the brown back telling him “ here, this is yours”. It was still sealed. Rick asked if he was allowed to open it then, and she said yes. He verified with her if he would be needing it for the next step of this process and she said no. ( I'm assuming that he holds onto it until the AOS time)

She asked for the copy of divorce certificate, original birth certificate and the copy and then she handed him back the original. She asked for financial records as well as military records. Rick handed all records to her with them still inside their protective sleeves and she took what she wanted and gave him back empty sleeves.
She did not ask for co-sponsor's passport which was originally a RFE and rick asked her is she wanted it, and she said yes.
She asked for records of his kids and asked if they would be traveling with him. Rick told her no.

She had the packet 3 checklists and she verified he had everything. She took his fingerprints on the scanner, and that was it at that window and he was told to go sit back down. This took a total of about 10 minutes.

NO ONE asked him for his passport photo's ever throughout this whole process.
About 17 minutes to 9am he was called to window 9 which was down the same hallway as window 12.
There is a man there who asked him to sign a sheet and then swore Rick in. He asked some question such as:
1. Where were Ricks kids, and he asked this because on one of the forms when filling it out, it asks beneficiary to list all children, so Rick listed his two adult children. ( The kids were not coming with him, but he listed them because the form was not clear as to whether or not he was to list them if they weren't coming) . Sorry, he did not say which form this was. Rick replied to him telling him they weren't coming with him. He informed Rick that he didn't have to list them, if they weren't coming but acknowledged that the form was unclear, and would let this go.
2. He asked where we met.
3. When we met.
4. He asked what I ( the petitioner) did for work.
5. He asked where I live.
6. He asked beneficiary where he lived.
7. He asked beneficiary what he did for a living.
8. He asked Rick to explain our relationship a little.
9. He asked how often we see each other.

He then had Rick put his right index finger on the scanner to verify it was him. He then pulled out a piece of paper and explained that these are instructions that you will need and a welcome letter and put it through the window saying congrats , your approved.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
