hey there,

My interview is on the 28th of July for K-1 and I did something which may not sound so clever.I booked my flight on the 5th of Aug.Because we already delayed the wedding once and we dont wanna delay it anymore. We've arranged everything for the wedding party. My question is 'In 2007 and 2008 I ve got my j-1 visa by passing both the interviews succesfully and my passport was delivered within 3-4 days.Do you think I am going to be able to recieve my K-1 visa sticked passport before the 5th of Aug?

please encourge me!

thanks

Good luck to you!!!!! Do you have US Embassy you are going to be interviewed at the same city you live? If they don't need to ship your passport back with visa to another city they usually do it 3-4 business days....so I think you are ok.

Hi ,

First of all best of luck for your interview ..Hope everything goes as u planned .. i don't wanna sound skeptical but here are some facts ...

1. You belong to a Islamic country so there are chances that your case can go into AP .... coz i am from india and i had been told at the interview that my visa was approved but still it went in AP ... hope that doesn't happen with u ..

2. what if some thing goes wrong at the interview ? coz everything is unpredictable here .

3. what visa stamping takes 2 weeks ? it has happened with many people .

4. what if the ask u for any extra documentation ? take extensive relationship proof , affidavit of support n all other supporting docs , n lots n lots of pics .. this is one thing that u can control ...but you never know ..

so .. i think its not a good idea to take a confirmed ticket ... may be a open ticket is better ..

Hope everything goes smooth with u .

Goodluck .

It is never advisable to book a flight before the interview. it took me 10 business days to get my visa back.

Plus there is the AP aspect which hopefully you won't be going through but you never know

there was a Canadian who was delayed 6 weeks after her interview because she had to drive back to Montreal to get her fingerprints done due to a glitch in the consulate's system...what if something unpredictable happens like that?

I am sorry, I cannot encourage you, especially since you only left 6 days between interview and departure

Good luck

Bad idea booking the flight, anything could happen like people have pointed out. You cannot garuntee that you're going to be approved, there could be delays in getting your passport back or anything.

I wish you luck for your interview and I pray that if you're approved that your visa does get to you in time but I really wish you'd not booked the flight. Keep us posted x

You will either be fine or there will be a delay and you can rebook your tickets. It's only money and you didn't wait until the visa was in hand as is always suggested. You already did it so you made your bed and now you will have to sleep in it.

Just because his took 2 days mean nothing - every persons case is different! We all look to compare our case to someone else's to get the good answer we want, all our situations are different.

You could always try phoning/ emailing your embassy and asking for an earlier interview date and explaining your situation.

Wow. Not only the flight but the wedding plans also. I hope everything works out, but you are really gambling that there won't be any hitch or problem. If it does, then your Fiance needs to take you to Vegas while you are still on a hot streak

Not advisable. We've re-booked our flight 3 times already because they kept telling us it would only be a few days (and a few more days...and a few more days...) and now it's been a month and still no visa. We were solidly approved at the interview. And knew others who really did get theirs within a few days. We also booked a ticket because of our upcoming wedding, which we're about to cancel. Hope it works out better for you, but planning is really risky.

magic question, at the end of the interview:

Are my namechecks complete, or will my case be placed in AP ?

You'll know for certain, after asking that question.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
