Hello,

So I checked my USCIS status yesterday and it said that my 1-130 petition got approved. Now I was reading the guides for the 1-130 and it said that NOA2 will be sent to me and a few weeks later a packet of forms will be sent to my wife overseas. My question is that between now and when I receive the NOA2 in the mail, what can I or should I do to speed up the process through the NVC? Thank you very much.

Thanks for the replies. I looked over the EZguide that you directed me towards. My wife does not have a passport yet nor does she have the police certificates yet. Should I now go ahead and ask her to get these 2 things to speed up the process? I was unsuccessful in finding info about how much time it will take through this NVC process, so once the petition is approved and forwarded to the NVC, how much time does it usually take to get an interview provided that the beneficiary is in Pakistan? Thanks

Yes, have her obtain a passport and all documents ASAP. How long it takes through NVC depends on how efficiently YOU manage the process. It could be from six to eight weeks to several months. Usually interviews are within 6 to 10 weeks of NVC case complete but be prepared for a period of additional administrative processing (actually security checks) AFTER the interview, BEFORE the visa is issued. Congrats!

My case was closed on Jan 10, 2011 and we were notified on our wedding anniversary, Jan. 19th, 2011 that his interview was scheduled on Feb 3rd. Sometimes the case will move like lightening, so one must be prepared for both ends of the spectrum. Be as proactive as you can with the NVC. I called within 5 business days after my NOA2 and got my case number and made sure that the all corresspondance will be sent to me and my husband via email. Within one week I got the choice of agent form and that day I emailed it back to the NVC inquiry to get the ball rolling. I paid my AOS bill as soon as I could and sent those documents in . I then paid the IV bill one week after it was generated. The disclaimer on all the preliminary paper work states that you have one year from your last contact with the NVC before your paid fees will expire and you will have to repay.

Good Luck!

Good LUCK the next step but it may take you a few months to get through NVC

since there is people aready here waiting more than 2 months for Visa numbers
