Remove Off Topic and Politics and Religon Forums from this board

I have been watching and reading these boards for about 2 years now and I have to say in that short time it has degraded badly because of the self appointed experts constantly chastising people looking for advice.

This is most rampant in both the Off Topic and Politics and Religon forums, and removal of these forums would cause these internet power junkies to find another website to boost their egos.

These two forums give them a place to fester and lurk until they can jump to one of the upper forums and pounce on someone looking for advice.

Those truly wanting to help others in the immigration process by posting their experiences will still keep the board active and viable, but deprieving the internet power junkies of their forums will cause them to go elsewhere because they really could care less about helping other people with immigration issues.

OT & P&R are for those who want to talk about other topics than immigration but who enjoy the comraderie of the VJ boards. My wife's visa journey is not completely over

because she will adjust status in the coming months. I mainly post now in OT but

I pretty much stay away from P&R because I don't have anything to prove and the

tone often gets argumentative in that neighborhood. To each his own.....I think those

forums provide good food for thought at best and are a waste of time at worst but

nobody forces you to go there.

I am here mainly because of the immigration stuff, but I don't begrudge anyone discussing other things so long as they're in the right place. If someone gets belligerent or out of order when giving immi advice, report them like you would any other post.

It's simple.

You don't like OT? Don't read it.

You don't lik P&R? Don't read it.

There, that was easy!

Dare I say that we might consider bringing back the "-1" in the upper fora for this very purpose? Bad advice could be flagged more easily. I think a lot of the big time OT/P&R posters don't venture much into the upper fora anyway, unless I'm mistaken.

Politics and Religion are important section of the forum - I would think their purpose for immigrant is how to adjust with the political situation in new country or how they can fulfill their religious needs in the new country.

But I feel both the sections needs to be better moderated.

fester and lurk
Great words, and reminiscent of chief characters on The Addams Family.

Seriously: If any OT/P&R attitudes bleed over into the upper fora, those posts should be reported. I think that it happens rarely, but it does happen. I admire the OP for stating his opinion.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

No examples+no names= no one knows who you're referring to.

Tell the moderators if you think someone from OT or R&P is needlessly attacking people on the strictly immigration parts of the forum.
