I UNDERSTAND you have to pay 1365 to uscis to get the case started. I have done that already. no problems there! But somehow there is a 70 dollars fee that state dept impose to review each i864. My question is at what stage of the process we get billed for that? Anybody had to pay that???

There is no $70,- fee for I-864 when you are filling for AOS. It is because you're already here in USA.

The $70,- fee for each I-864 is paid only if a US citizen is filling for a green card for the beneficiary (spouse, parents,

brother, etc.) who doesn't live in the US.

That's how I understand it. Hope I'm right.

Okay. I think I know what you are talking about. I remember seeing that as well and it wasn't very clear, but basically, I think that is when it is reviewed at a consulate, not here in the US. If you are doing AOS based on an I-130, you only have to pay the $1365.

GabiandVi,

Before you got your interview letter, meaning between 5/17 and 5/29 (as you posted), did you get touched or received any emails or text. My forms were touched after i did the Bio and I am wondering what happens after.

No. Nothing. There still are no updates. According to my portfolio online, the I-485 and the I-765 were last touched on 5/17, and the I-130 was last touched on 5/5. All three are still in initial review.

The 17th was the Monday after we did the bio on the previous Friday, so I'm sure that's why they were touched. The interview letter was produced on the 24th but no touches.

How do you actually request expedite for EAD? You have to submit paperwork? On what basis do you claim that you are eligible?

Initially, I called the 1800 number and they put in the expedite request but the following day, it was denied because I didn't have enough evidence (even though I asked them if I had to send/fax anything!) and there were too many cases like mine. So I looked up my local congressman's office and called them about expediting the I-765. Pretty much explained to them that my OPT is expiring mid-June and I am currently working. Also told them that I completed the biometrics two weeks before. Then they e-mailed a form for me to fill out as a release letter for them to contact USCIS and I faxed the release form as well as my biometrics appointment (with stamp), my N0As for I-130 and I-765, and my current OPT EAD card. You can get more info from this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/254351-requested-expedite-on-ead/

Hello April Fillers,

I did my walk-in biometrics today in Santa Ana, CA without any problem!kicking.gif

The personel there was very nice! it took less than an hour to go through (waiting was the longest)

I'm soooooo happy! just need to fix the RFE and I'll be in the waiting line for interview letter as well!

I think I read that some of us was told her/his bio letter would come within 30 after RFE acceptance, but I really think it's not accurate! My bio and RFE letter were sent the same day (05/25) but the RFE was dated 05/21. So that means both ARE NOT related as i stated in a post a couple of pages before!

The date that counts for biometrics is the date they accepted your file, if within 30 days you don't have it, try to call there custom number!

Good luck everyone!

If you can prove financial hardship (bills to pay; etc) and you need to work asap, you could try sending in the proofs like bills. One of the reasons that the 1800# customer rep gave was financial loss to an individual so you can go that route if you are in such situation.
