Embassy Review : Np problem at all! I was originally coming to NY for a 3 wk vacation so see my boyfriend a spend Xmas and New Years with him. I how the officer my docs and return ticket and he sent me on my way. The other officer joked about how heavy my suitcase was. I'm a woman, what can I say I have alot of shoes (which I did). I packed 3 pairs of shoes and enough clothes for 3 weeks. Really pleasant experience.

Embassy Review : We are APPROVED!!!

Here is how it all went down!

We arrived @ the Federal Building @ 2pm. We went through security and hubby had to take off his shoes (funny I sailed through with no problems). The security guard was this REALLY cool older Jamaican man, he started flirting with me while they were giving hubby the once over. Once that was finished, hubby and him started joking (I was REALLY at ease). We checked in on the eighth floor, the lady behind the desk was not having a good day.

The room was very unwelcoming and had a few couples were already waiting, it seemed as though everyone had a lawyers! We were seated and waiting by 2.20pm. About 10mins passed and a lady emerged from an interview crying hysterically so you know I was IMMEDIATELY on edge.

We were called in @ 3.05 by an older Indian fellow (I have no idea what his name is).

He swore us in and got right down to business.

He asked for my for: BC, passport
He asked hubby for: BC, passport, driver's license (weird, because I though he asked for SO much citizen proof).
3 pics
Marriage certificate
Comingling of finances

Down to the questions:

Me (Krys)

How did you meet?
When did you first meet in person?
When we started dating?
What is hubby's take home salary?
What are our mthly expenses?
How did you know he was the one?

Hubby's questions:
Are you guys going to have a traditional ceremony? When?
Is she currently working?
Has she ever worked?

Back to me: all the yes/no question on the I-485
That's it! He told us to go back to the waiting room he would be with us in a minute.

10mins passed, he called my name and says: I've approved your application as of today, your GC will be mailed to you in 1 month, but in the mean time I've stamped your passport, you can travel as you please it is like your GC (I already knew this).

I had the weirdest reaction: I started laughing hysterically.

All-and-all, a great experience, we were done in 5mins.
No more USCIS for 21 mths

Oh yeah, he told my husband about removing conditions in 2yrs.. I tuned him out because thanks to VJ, I already know this.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
