Parking lot etiquette:

-- Drivers who literally spend 20 minutes circling the parking lot looking for closer spot instead of taking one of the thousands of spaces they already passed and walking into the building.

-- The same drivers who slowly follow me through the parking lot in hopes of getting the space I am about to give up at the end of my shift. (I counter this by walking down an aisle that isn't mine and walk between cars so to my aisle to ditch them.

-- The same drivers who find me at my spot and wait impatiently (despite the multitudes of open parking they already passed) while I get into my vehicle to go. (I counter this by delaying my own departure for as long as need be for them to move on.... because I'm a #######.)

I love when people follow me to my car while I'm on my lunchbreak and then expect me to leave and even go so far as to honk at me. I like to go out to my car for lunch sometimes.

I work for a large corporation and there are 8,000 employees who work at the campus where I work. My pet peeves are classified into what should be know as "Rules of the Road When Not in a Car"...

Building Etiquette:

-- People who try to get on an elevator before the people getting off on that floor can get out.

-- People who walk on the wrong side of "normal" direction of traffic in the hallways and passage ways.

-- People walking in groups of two or more side-by-side in a hallway who expect on-coming traffic to get out of their way, or are walking too slow for people behind them to pass.

-- People on breaks who walk through the hallways reading books -- seriously... no book is that good that you have to read it on your way from your desk to the bathroom or cafeteria.

-- Smokers (which should be enough said)... but smokers who throw their butts on the ground instead of using the designated ashtray at the smoking area provided by the company.

-- This one is probably unique to my job, but we have a revolving glass turnstile that requires employees to scan their employee badges. This security door is the inner door of the airlock. While it may be courteous for a person to hold the outer door of the airlock for me or others, they slow down the flow of traffic through the security turnstile and now me and everyone behind me has to wait for them.

(I counter this by walking down an aisle that isn't mine and walk between cars so to my aisle to ditch them.

lol to all of this but esp the "#######" comment.. lol. Yes. People suck.

I hate when someone else has a debt and somehow the collector gets my number. Then no matter how many times I tell them they have the wrong number they still call back. Then the debt gets sold, and I get a new collector calling, then a THIRD.

It literally was once a day for 3 months. After a week or so I started doing silly things like meowing, acting as if I was actually their gay lover, the repeat game (I did that one a lot actually), the why are you calling game etc.

had that happen with my former stepmother. been getting calls for her for the past 2 years or so. the last one that called......well let's just say i violated vj tos in every way. :innocent:

another one.

use of 'no problem' instead of 'yer welcome'.

If it's from a younger person - I give them the diatribe about how old cranky curmudgeons, like me, react to 'no problem'.

No Problem, you say? OMG - are you telling me there was a potential for a problem to exist? We might have had a problem? Have you been adequately trained to not only handle, but fix, said problems? No ?

Then why, in the name of God, would you insinuate there might have been a problem? Ya, ya did insinuate it, when you flipped from 'yer welcome', into 'no problem'. Stop it. Don't like it? lets talk to the boss..

I think you are being nitpicky here. I use "no problem" and "you're welcome" in slightly different situations and they mean different things to me. "No problem" focuses on the fact that I was not inconvenienced by it. That is, it isn't that there could have been a problem between us. I mean that I didn't feel like it was extra effort and am happy to do it any time. "You're welcome" is also an invitation that I would be happy to do it any time but doesn't mean that it wasn't inconvenient for me. In all honesty, your diatribe doesn't make any sense to me.

Another one for me...WHAT is up with these people who use their cell phones, when out to dinner with someone else? I mean..if my kids are calling, I will answer with, I am out to dinner and will have to call you back later. CLICK.

I have seen people having full on conversations on their cell phones, while their dinner partners sit there bored, or worse yet, texting on their phones. And don't these people realize that cell phones today have powerful, little microphones, so talking LOUDLY into them is no longer necessary??

I understand...

as for not making any sense - hei - it's ok ..

For me, it's a sure sign I've turned in to a cranky curmudgeon.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Same goes for me, since I teach high school. All freshmen, on their first day of school, should be given the "This Is How You Walk Down Stairs and a Hallway" talk.

But I have to disagree on the book thing. There are some books that are just that good!

-people who insist on driving - turning corners one handed, going through orange signals, crowding up behind your car so you think they are going to drive over top of you - because they are so busy talking on their cell phone they aren't paying any attention to their driving

- using 'could care less' rather than the correct 'couldn't care less' - two totally different meanings

- using 'irregardless' rather than the correct 'regardless'

- putting every piece of food garbage or waste (egg shells, coffee grinds, vegetable skins and peelings, left over food) into the sink so it goes through the garburator!! The garbage disposal is to take care of bits of food on dishes - not to act like a garbage bin! Use the garbage bin or put it in the compost pail.

- doctor's offices that state if you are more than 10 minutes late for your scheduled appointment they will reschedule you - but make you wait 3 and 4 hours for that scheduled appointment for which you arrived 15 minutes early

-people who 'visit' and chat' with the check out cashier who isn't able to do more than one thing at a time and that one thing V E R R Y Y S L O O W W L L Y Y! If you have to chat to your customer, please continue to ring up the merchandise or put it in the bag.

People who talk in circles or repeat themselves several times in the same sentence. Seriously, I heard you the first million times.

And I just cannot stand when you ask someone (in this case a co-worker) a question and they talk in circles because they either don't know the answer, or don't want to give you the answer. Just freakin' say..."I don't know" or, "I don't want to answer that". Might piss me off...and I may go over your head for the answer...but dammit that is just rude!
