"oh, he came to the country illegally but he isn't a criminal, he's never done anything illegal!!" (and the like).  As if entering a country illegally is NOT a crime to begin with.

Its really that simple isnt it

There is nothing more in this world that's a top priority for me than the responsibility for me to protect my husband's status and ensure we follow the law.

This reflects both heightened awareness and true love, Y ma'am.

You, who has been in the country for 18 years, was issued a final order of deportation in 2002 after his claim for asylum was denied. But he stayed put

"She called her husband a 'very good man' with no criminal record"

Now I'm irked again.  I just don't understand how people can think entering a country illegally is not a crime.  Maybe not a crime to them, I suppose, when looking at it emotionally.

Stories like this abound and are intended to make us feel sorry for the "victims."

Replace name, race, and nationality with any other in plug-and-play fashion.

Replace arrests at AOS interviews with arrests at the border.

Almost always, small children are involved.

By extension, we're to feel anger or outright rage at the Enforcers and their superiors who direct the Enforcement.

"How dare they traumatize these children and break up this hard-working family?"

It's a heartbreaking shame that the small children are traumatized.

However, the law-breaking parents should have thought of that prospect long, long before.

It's only a matter of time before your lucky odds run out.

We still see the no-immediate-AOS business here.

People undertake the immigration process despite being as poor as a dormouse.

They then blame joblessness, car repairs, or other things for not filing for AOS.

The obvious remedy is to allocate AOS fees in advance and keep them in an untouchable account.

However, we never hear of this having been done.

You are so right.  I have talked to people who are thinking about it, and I tell them up front:

1) Visit VJ and read about the first 20 pages in the particular country’s sub forums, and pay attention to what people are telling you there (making sure to discern those who have done it from those who are doing it).

2) Make sure you have at least $7,000 to throw away BEFORE you start the process, in a separate account that is only for the VJ.

while some are all up in arms about children being removed from their parents, there is not a peep

about fathers being separated from their children every day by divorce courts.

That is because all men are abusive and the women and children are just the victims of our cruelty - to be sure I am being sarcastic lest someone bites my head off

You forgot to mention how all single fathers are deadbeat dads, too.

Update:

Immigrant held after Army base pizza delivery released

https://www.yahoo.com/news/lawyers-detained-pizza-deliverer-head-court-141837241.html

This coming from a judge, really?

"I mean, is there any concept of justice here or are we just doing this because we want to?" the judge asked. "Why do we want to enforce the order? It makes no difference in terms of the larger issues facing the country."

This line really irks me to no end because I have lived through it with my x-wife.

When I was working in Afghanistan I sent her $2k a month in vs and $1k for full time daycare, so in essence $3k a month while I was working overseas. She had no job at this time and still couldn't get her GED because "it was to hard". I let her know 4 months in advance before I moved back to the USA that the most I was going to send her then was $1k a month because I was making less but living in CA and she lives in NC.

We ultimately went to court for custody and child support when I got back. Even though she was an admitted Heroin user with confirmed drug tests and a outstanding drug charge the judge still allowed her to keep custody of them instead of moving them to CA with me because "it would be traumatic to the children".

She conned her family in to bank rolling her attorney because she told them I wasn't sending any money, until I showed them the receipts of the money orders. She ultimately lost the custody battle because she got locked up and couldn't get out for a hearing.... 5 years later I still have custody and she is happy not having the kids full time all the while not paying child support.
