A tip on proof of having met

I just sent out my documents overnight, thank you everyone and now I want to give back to the community with something I thought of last night.

Based on everyone's RFE's I decided to really expand on my "proof of having met" and ongoing relationship. To that end I thought of what I think is a clever idea that I think really should be helpful. I have included all the GPS data from our photos. In this day and age, any photo taken with an iPhone or Android typically has embedded GPS tags. Software such as Photos on a Mac will reveal that info to you when you right-click the image.

What I was able to do is grab this data for about 10-15 images, then provide corresponding credit card statements showing bills for those locations. So for example if we were eating at Venice beach and I have a card bill showing we ate there and paid for parking and we have photos AND the GPS shows us as being there, PLUS there is a flight AND passport stamp that goes with those dates. I think that's as close as it gets to undisputable evidence.

I'm attaching a picture of what my submission looks like.

Simply open the photo in Photos app. Right click it, then choose "Get Info". You can even zoom in on the Map to see exactly what restaurant or place you were at, in case you don't remember, then use that info to find it in your credit card. Finally to take a screenshot press COMMAND + SHIFT + 4 at the same time and drag it over the area you want to capture. The captured image goes to your desktop automatically.

I hope this bit helps everyone!

You went overkill with the GPS..lol..

passport stamp, boarding pass, receipt from hotel, pictures together (it will be nice to include a date stamp on the pictures) those are enough to prove that you were where you said you were..USCIS and State Dept are not that sophisticated yet. .

That's good to know

I think this photo screams I'm not in New England anymore probably the one with the palm trees more lol. But they can look at my passport and see when I came here and that I haven't left yet. Your idea is good but way too much work. Good luck with you application and process

Pics and things like that are still secondary evidence.

A lot of people get RFE's because they send secondary evidence because they feel it's more legit than primary evidence.

While it may seem undeniable that clearly you two in the photo are in the same place, USCIS goes "Well, this is good and all, but where's the primary?"

They want things like passport stamps, reciepts from say you being in the same city as your fiance or vice versa, hotel reservations/receipts, plane ticket stubs.

All of the OP's post is overkill. You only need to prove that you met ONCE within the last 2 years. The reason most people get RFE's is because they don't send primary evidence, or they don't send enough PRIMARY evidence. They may send maybe a passport stamps from one time and then 9 pictures, when they could have sent more passport stamps. Or they send a copy of a hotel reservation and nothing else.

When we did our packet all we sent were:

Copy of all the pages of the passport that had stamps in them. (I think no more than 3 or 4 pages).
Hotel reservation/Reciept of payment for the hotel on his first visit
Ticket stubs from the planes from 4 out of 7 times he visited
Photos.

It was less than 8 pages since I copies the ticket stubs all onto one page. No credit card receipts, since we paid for everything in cash while he was here.

Could be helpful tip for those dealing with difficult embassies. But we just took a couple pics at landmarks.

Agree'd. I see this be something that's more helpful at the interview stage, but not as much for just satisfying the I-129F, since the OP's point is to avoid RFE's.

Normally people who get RFE's for having met in person, usually miss something obvious or they just don't get the primary vs secondary evidence.

Gotcha, well I hope it helps someone. I know it's an overkill. I did include a copy of all the plane tickets, about 4-5 of them, all the credit card statements showing those hotels and restaurants, along with pics at those hotels and restaurants and those hotel receipts. That along with passport stamps from me and him. The only thing that makes me a bit uneasy is that his Spanish passport, I included the first page but didn't translate it, hopefully that doesn't result in any problems and they just get overwhelmed with sheer amount of other credit card bills, flights, hotels and photos that they just go "Ok I get it you met."

Just take pictures together holding up a local newspaper (with date) will suffice :)

Like a hostage being held by kidnappers...

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
