This a bit of an update and of course is written with lots of spin, but ends with her wanting to appeal her deportation, does not say on what basis as she admitted working and seems to contradict the never wanting to visit the US bit. A real Journalist, do they exist?, would have asked a few interesting questions.

TN is a non immigrant visa so theoretically with an immigrant visa in process there could be a problem. In practice I have seen people do it without issue. You can travel back and forth on a TN it is multiple entry. There are no end of different visas that allow you to work, for Canadians TN is simple.

To immigrate no. There is no relationship. To visit, in the situation plus Thailand would be very difficult.

Au Pairs must be: Proficient in spoken English; A secondary school graduate or equivalent; and Between 18-and-26-years-old. Capable of fully participating in the program as evidenced by the satisfactory completion of a physical. Personally interviewed, in English, by an organizational representative who shall prepare a report of the interview which shall be provided to the host family; and Successful in passing a background investigation that includes verification of school, three, non-family related personal and employment references, a criminal background check or its recognized equivalent and a personality profile. Such personality profile will be based upon a psychometric test designed to measure differences in characteristics among applicants against those characteristics considered most important to successfully participate in the au pair program. Seems unlikely to apply here, maybe a H2B?

K1 entry is single entery 90 days. As long as he leaves before the 90 days he is good.

I 130 can be kept open by contacting them regularly, at least annually. The normal process can be delayed which might be more applicable for someone just needing a bit more time.

I tend to mainly watch Hacking after the event as his shows rarely time with my availability. Now he is about as pro immigrant as a Lawyer could be, but even he gets frustrated with the people who call in who clearly have fake claims, I am sure there are a lot less scrupulous Lawyers who will talk a client into the correct sort of application.
