  1. Hey everyone, Let me start off by saying I think I'm ok and I don't need to take any actions, but I just wanted to double check if I need to change my visa. So I'm going to China in the summer with my wife to visit her parents for a week. I got a 10 year tourist visa (L-visa) in 2020 right before the pandemic, it doesn't expire until 2030. My question is, will China still accept this visa, or has things changed since COVID happened? Also, is it ok to just use my tourist visa, or do I need to apply for a spouse visa since I'm now legally married to my wife in the US? Also, I don't think it matters but in my passport photo I had hair and now I shave my head....will China be suspicious of this? Thanks for any input!
  2. Hey everyone, just wanted to see what you all thought the wait time is for a work permit? My wife and I got married back in June on her K-1 visa, we already submitted for her work permit at the end of July. We received notification that the USCIS received her I-765 form for review, but that was two months ago. Her friend who went through the same process received her work permit in just a month! Just wanted to see what people thought the general timeframe was to get a work permit from the day the I-765 form submission was accepted by the USCIS. Thanks for any input!
  3. Hello everyone, my wife now has a SSN # and I'm trying to build up her credit score by adding her to my credit card(s). On her SSN card is her original name but we want to change her last name to my last name. When we change her last name, will it also change her SSN # or will her SSN remain the same when we change her last name? Thanks for any input!
  4. My petitioner is about to submit her I-485, I-765 and I-131. Each of these forms require 2 recent 2x2 passport style photos. My petitioner has many recent 2x2 passport photos, but it's 3 different photos. My question is, as long as each separate form has two of the same 2x2 passport photos, can we just use her previous pictures (taken within the past 6 months), or do we need to take new ones to have 6 identical 2x2 passport style photos? I'm asking because we really don't want to waste most of the day/money on getting passport photos AGAIN. Thanks for any input!
  5. Thank you everyone for your input. So we are filling out the forms now and just using my wife's given family name as her middle name and my last name as her "new" last name. I'm filling out Form I-864 and Part 2 is asking about my wife. I just want to verify I should be putting my last name as 1.a (because she has taken my last name as her last name), and her "new" (never had a middle name previously) middle name is her previous last name before our marriage? Sorry to ask again, I'm just worried about the documents being rejected because of the name. Thanks!
  6. Hello, my spouse and I officially got married (she's on the K1 Visa), and we now have our Marriage Certificate. We want to change her last name to the married last name, but keep her maiden name as her new middle name (she has never used any middle names previously). She went to apply for her SSN and they said they can't do anything about changing names, and she has to wait until after AOS to update then. Now we are going to file for I-485 and I-765, I'm not sure how to proceed with the middle name and last name on the form in order to have the desired names. We're worried about when she can finally receive her green card, if the name will be incorrect. We're trying to do this correct the first time so we don't have to change her name through the courts later on. Thanks for any input.
  7. So I have one person that says "1" and another person who says "0". Bumping this to hopefully get another input.
  8. Thank you for your input. I understand all of that, it's just the "dependents" word. I just feel like she doesn't have any "dependents" so it should be 0. Anyway, I've seen some people on Youtube fill in this section the way you suggested. So I should just put "1" in the "Total Number of Dependents" section? The "1" would count as "beneficiary" in Part 2 Question 13, and as "self" in Part 3 Section 14? Also, can I just leave boxes blank or do I have to put N/A in all of the boxes? Example: In the "preparer" and "interpreter" sections.
  9. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-134.pdf Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can give me a little clarity on this form. My question is about the "dependents" and whether I should put a 0 or a 1. Part 2 - Section 13 and Part 3 - Section 14 are what I'm talking about. I don't have any children or dependents, and neither does the beneficiary. I believe I should put 0? I've seen Youtube videos where some people put 1 and some put 0. Am I overthinking this and it doesn't really matter whether if it's a 0 or 1, and that the US consulate agent will understand we're both single and childless? Also, for sections like "preparer" and "interpreter", if we don't have any information, should I put "N/A" on every line or just leave them blank? Thanks for any input!
  10. Hello everyone, my I-129F application was approved on 11/23/22. However, I'm still waiting to hear back from the NVC about the next step in the process. I have reached out to the NVC twice and I just get a generic "We have received your visa petition, but you're still not in the system yet". Anyway, I'm moving to a neighboring state but the address that is on file is my parent's house. While I won't be technically living at my parent's house anymore, I still use/visit their house a bunch and would prefer any important letters to go there. I know I will need to register at the DMV in my new state, when I move. Should I notify someone that I have moved or just stay quiet and let them continue to send notifications/important letters to my parent's house? Thanks for any input.
  11. Just letting everyone know I received the I-797 Approval notice in the mail, it is dated 11/23/22. At the end of the day, it took about 14.5 months for the USCIS to process
  12. I've already reached out to my congressperson who tried to expedite the case but it didn't work because now the normal processing times are "15 months", I'm only at 14 months. They just keep pushing back the acceptable processing time......
  13. You're telling me I could have been married on Zoom like a year ago and could have just applied for a CR1? Or is it much more difficult than I'm assuming?
