N400 February 2025 General Provision
P055UM replied to Avuscrm5's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Status changed from 'Interview was scheduled' back to 'Still being processed' today. Assuming this is related to the new enhanced vetting policy memo. Only on N-400, not I-751. No documentation suggesting my interview has been cancelled or postponed (yet). 😭 -
They probably will respond to your inquiry but the answer will likely be disappointing. I would recommend you have a senator make an inquiry on your behalf (but you probably need to wait for them to reply to the initial inquiry first, or at least for the deadline they gave you to pass, which I think is 60 days).

I-751 February 2024 filers
P055UM replied to P055UM's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Just got scheduled for a combo interview next month after reaching out to the senator’s office. The response from USCIS to the senator’s inquiry didn’t make any promises, but the timing is too hard to ignore (less than a week between inquiry response and interview scheduling). Would encourage anybody who is eligible to inquire with their senator to do so.- 139 replies

This is what I got from the congressional inquiry “Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter. A review confirms your constituent’s Form I-751 application is currently pending alongside their Form N-400 application and will be processed simultaneously by their local field office at the time of the N-400 interview. Their Form N-400 application is currently awaiting interview scheduling by the Field Office. Although the A-File is still physically located at the National Benefits Center (NBC), the scheduling of your constituent's interview is within the jurisdiction of the field office. Once the field office schedules this case for an interview, your constituent will receive an interview notice stating the date and time to appear for the scheduled interview. Once the interview is scheduled, the NBC will then forward the file to the field office.” I-751 25 months old and N-400 13 months old. I’m not clear why an interview isn’t being scheduled. More waiting for me I guess.

Traveling on Extension Letter?

Adding my recent experience: Travelled through MSP with my extension letter recently. No issues at all. CBP professional and friendly, and MSP perfectly laid out with lots of amenities. -

If a new employer she could also use a drivers license and unrestricted social security card. Employers aren’t able to dictate which documentation is used for I-9 verification. -
N400 April 2025 filers

Maybe, but it was delivered with the subtext of ‘we aren’t even going to ask’. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/processing-times-faqs I filed Form N-400 while my Form I-751 is still pending. Which processing time should I look at? We will adjudicate your Form I-751 before or concurrently with your Form N-400. Please refer to the processing time for Form N-400. It’s only an FAQ page, not a policy document or memorandum etc. But if they didn’t want to give the impression that the N-400 timeline is the important one, they could have simply chosen to not publish this FAQ. -

P055UM replied to shorouq123's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
My US senators office was responsive, but said that USCIS adjudicates joint N-400/I-751 according to the I-751 timeline, and since the I-751 isn’t past processing times there’s nothing they can do. This directly contradicts USCIS’s own website FAQs, which clearly states that the N-400 timeline prevails in joint cases, so I’m at a loss. I guess I have another senator and a representative that I could try. -

You aren’t alone! I filed I-751 Feb 24 and N-400 Feb 25. Biometrics reused on both. No other movement. -

Same here. I filed N-400 almost a year ago. Unfortunately nothing has budged. The N-400 is now well outside of processing time so I have done a case inquiry. I hope for some movement for all of us soon!- 139 replies

SSN issues, issuing a cautionary tale while venting.
P055UM replied to Syndine's topic in Social Security Numbers
Yeah, getting an SSN as a K-1 is a horrible minefield that isn’t gonna be changed any time soon. Hopefully your EAD will come soon, so you can then use that to get the SSN. Good luck! -
Not the way I would look at it, but you’re right in the sense that you paid for an EAD you’re likely never going to get. Nevertheless, I would always advise applicants to apply for an EAD at the same time as AoS if working is something that’s important to them. Your GC interview timeline is very quick - may the rest of your journey be as smooth!

P055UM replied to mycase17's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
If you think you’ll be filing for N-400 eventually, there isn’t much reason not to do it, especially given that is has been known to bump I-751s along for people. That said, don’t get your hopes up as it is far from guaranteed: I filed my N-400 almost a year ago and it has done precisely nothing to get my I-751 moving. -

Probably one of my smaller complaints at this point, but it is shameful that it has been known to be so inaccurate for so long and has continued to be featured in users’ accounts. -

Not sure if anybody is left here without hearing at least something. My only update is that MyProgress, not that it is useful anyway, now no longer works for me as of two weeks ago. -

Before marriage is without doubt the best time. Quickest and least confusing for everyone involved. If for some reason you can’t get there before you marry, go after you marry but before the I-94 expires. I had to do this because of covid-era SSA office policies. Note this route has a lower success rate, particularly if a name change is involved, but is 100% legitimate and many members on this site have got SSNs at this stage. Filing AoS doesn’t affect SS application, but it is likely that by the time you have got all your evidence together for AoS, you’ve used too much time on the I-94 and SSN can’t be issued in time before I-94 expires. After these two options, next is after receiving EAD, then GC. Good luck! tl;dr : apply for SSN as soon as possible!!
