Which processing time should I look at? We will adjudicate your Form I-751 before or concurrently with your Form N-400. Please refer to the processing time for Form N-400. It’s only an FAQ page, not a policy document or memorandum etc. But if they didn’t want to give the impression that the N-400 timeline is the important one, they could have simply chosen to not publish this FAQ.

My US senators office was responsive, but said that USCIS adjudicates joint N-400/I-751 according to the I-751 timeline, and since the I-751 isn’t past processing times there’s nothing they can do. This directly contradicts USCIS’s own website FAQs, which clearly states that the N-400 timeline prevails in joint cases, so I’m at a loss. I guess I have another senator and a representative that I could try.

The exact same thing has now happened to me. Despite waiting until I was outside of processing times to do an inquiry, the response to the inquiry was that it is not taking longer than normal. Guess I will try a congressional inquiry, for what it’s worth.

You aren’t alone! I filed I-751 Feb 24 and N-400 Feb 25. Biometrics reused on both. No other movement.

Same here. I filed N-400 almost a year ago. Unfortunately nothing has budged. The N-400 is now well outside of processing time so I have done a case inquiry. I hope for some movement for all of us soon!

Yeah, getting an SSN as a K-1 is a horrible minefield that isn’t gonna be changed any time soon. Hopefully your EAD will come soon, so you can then use that to get the SSN. Good luck!

Not the way I would look at it, but you’re right in the sense that you paid for an EAD you’re likely never going to get. Nevertheless, I would always advise applicants to apply for an EAD at the same time as AoS if working is something that’s important to them. Your GC interview timeline is very quick - may the rest of your journey be as smooth!

Congratulations! My inquiry date has been pushed back a number of times. If it doesn’t move again I’ll be able to submit in the next two weeks. Fingers crossed.

If you think you’ll be filing for N-400 eventually, there isn’t much reason not to do it, especially given that is has been known to bump I-751s along for people. That said, don’t get your hopes up as it is far from guaranteed: I filed my N-400 almost a year ago and it has done precisely nothing to get my I-751 moving.

Probably one of my smaller complaints at this point, but it is shameful that it has been known to be so inaccurate for so long and has continued to be featured in users’ accounts.

Not sure if anybody is left here without hearing at least something. My only update is that MyProgress, not that it is useful anyway, now no longer works for me as of two weeks ago.

Before marriage is without doubt the best time. Quickest and least confusing for everyone involved. If for some reason you can’t get there before you marry, go after you marry but before the I-94 expires. I had to do this because of covid-era SSA office policies. Note this route has a lower success rate, particularly if a name change is involved, but is 100% legitimate and many members on this site have got SSNs at this stage. Filing AoS doesn’t affect SS application, but it is likely that by the time you have got all your evidence together for AoS, you’ve used too much time on the I-94 and SSN can’t be issued in time before I-94 expires. After these two options, next is after receiving EAD, then GC. Good luck! tl;dr : apply for SSN as soon as possible!!

Definitely agree that if N-400 is the goal then there is no reason to wait. Will strike a note of caution that filing for N-400 doesn’t dislodge I-751 for everyone - I’m sneaking up on a year post N-400 and two years post I-751 and nothing but extension letters then silence. But doesn’t change the advice to go for N-400 if that is the aim.

Not too worried about this yet, still. I think it has an uphill journey to 60 senate votes. That said I’m not extremely comfortable with these ideas flying around as someone who is trying to naturalise and seemingly just waiting for I-751 to be approved. Even without a dog in the fight, I am still trying to wrap my head around the perceived ‘benefits’ of this bill. I don’t see any.

Pretty impossible to say. Looks like your I-751 is still pending? Fingers crossed for you that doesn’t hold it up. I am pending I-751 and N-400 right now. N-400 is now beyond the 80% time. Wishing you a speedy outcome!

It would probably be useful for you to tell the forum on what basis you are here? Did you arrive via K-1/CR-1/IR-1, or some other means?

My two cents is that you should live your life the way you want and cross any immigration bridges as and when they arise. It doesn’t seem right that choosing to live rurally would work against you. And, as @Dashinka says, it’s likely affidavits from people that have known her longer will carry more weight anyway. Good luck!

OP - when was the last time you submitted a service request on the N-400? It plainly is well outside of processing time for Los Angeles field office so the answer that it is within processing time is absurd.
