  1. I got an update just after midnight one of the days this week on the API. Incidentally this was my three year LPR anniversary. Hard to think it doesn’t mean anything but I also haven’t had any ‘real’ movement since 🤷‍♂️
  2. What is this? I’m not familiar. I had an API update a couple of days ago but no new code/movement. MyProgress also changed from 2 months to 4 months. lol.
  3. Could a family member of your wife’s act as a guarantor until your paperwork is in order? I realise that is asking a lot but it is a pretty common practice.
  4. I’m in the same office but am still waiting. Congrats on getting your date and good luck for your upcoming interview!
  5. Yes, mine filed in Feb-25 gave a two year extension. Unclear if this runs concurrently, supersedes, or goes in addition to the I-751 extension letter.
  6. Pretty sure this was our arrangement with our landlord too for the first year I was here in the US. Didn’t affect anything - AoS approved with no issues.
  7. AoS interview isn’t too bad, generally. Just be prepared for quick fire questions or questions that seem designed to ruffle your feathers. Our IO asked our anniversary like four or five times, sometimes immediately after a completely unrelated question. I was approved immediately after, but I do remember it being a bit unnerving at the time. Good luck!
  8. Hardly. $100 still buys $100 worth of shares. You are right that it will almost certainly recover and those who have the ability to invest now will see gains from their $100 going further at present. However, acting like this immediately puts more money in peoples’ pocket that can be invested is woefully upside down thinking, especially since most experts believe that in the short term, this will increase inflation, and therefore will lead to less money in the pockets of the average person. Some people will benefit from this, undoubtedly, but it will be the same people that always do: the people with the means to exploit the situation - in this case buy low - ie the rich. If we truly wanted to help Millennials/ Gen Z, we should’ve cancelled more student debt.
  9. He also posted about it on other platforms https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/key-context-missing-online-claims-starmer-did-not-post-about-mothers-day-2025-2025-03-31/
  10. Was just checking the handbook and no reverification is needed for 2 year, 10 year, expired + I90 or expired + N400, but it is for expired + I751! The joys of RoC 🫠🫠 https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-resources/handbook-for-employers-m-274/70-evidence-of-employment-authorization-for-certain-categories/71-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr
  11. I’d use a CPA this year. Turbo tax is sketchy for first year stuff, and foreign income stuff. Btw, I’m not a CPA, but if you do DIY, I believe form 2555 (FEIE) is prorated to the days you were out of the country, in your case around 25%.
  12. Yes extremely hilarious that OP is worried about his wife and child.
  13. If this is something that has to be checked, it should be checked at the time of issuing of the license. Checking at the side of the road wastes both time and resources.
  14. I have been wondering the same thing. I assume my 2 year extension from N-400 is superseded by the 4 year extension from I-751. There is no way I would travel without the I-751 letter. I will probably leave the N-400 at home.
  15. Wisconsin also allows the voting public to recall elected representatives. He is not being recalled. Make of that what you will.
  16. https://www.boundless.com/blog/new-health-insurance-requirement-explained/ Agree this isn’t an issue but this article was not exactly hard to find, or unique.
  17. I think the exemption you are speaking of is the Closer Connection rule. This is how tourists (who remain tourists) can avoid US tax residency even if they spend a lot of time here. Unfortunately it would not apply to you, as I see you have a pending AoS and have therefore taken steps towards permanent residency. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/closer-connection-exception-to-the-substantial-presence-test
  18. No movement on my side. I am also going to file N-400 this month. Hopefully that will get it moving!
  19. When it comes to entering the US as a non-LPR/citizen, you’d do well to understand that it is fully down to the discretion of CBP. I had a similar experience to your fiancée once: entering for comfortably less than permitted (but longer than most people could practically do), letter from employer, savings, mortgage statements showing ties to home country etc etc. I was going by the book and had evidence to prove it. I was still *this* close to not being let in. The officer was just super skeptical, rightly or wrongly. You just have to understand that they can give a hard time or deny entry and rather than getting angry that it isn’t fair, which I have sympathy with, find a way of avoiding the situation in the future - ie use the B2 less.
  20. I would suggest you get a new phone which can run two SIM cards. I moved my UK number to GiffGaff (only top up when needed in Europe) and got myself a US number on Mint ($15/month).
  21. For anybody stumbling upon this thread in the future, you can now ignore any talk about WEP. The Social Security Fairness Act was signed into law by President Biden on 01/05/2025 and repeals the WEP and GPO. As for any Brits wondering how to pay NICs from overseas: I filled out the form and now HMRC sends me a once yearly bill/notice requesting around £150. I pay by bank transfer. In return, I get a full year of NIC credit.
