    Not in LA but pretty similar timelines. I-751 pending since Feb 24 and N-400 since Feb-25. No real advice, but just to let you know you’re not the only one stuck here

    Or even wonkier, some of the people affected will be dual citizens by birth. They would never have had green cards to begin with.

    @cooleynata any developments in your situation? I’m about a month away from being in the same boat - ie N-400 so outside of processing times that I can submit an inquiry, I-751 not yet old enough. Hoping the N-400 inquiry might spur some kind of action but I’m not holding my breath.

    I’d be surprised if they were approving EADs for some categories but not K-1s, but that is nothing more than a gut feeling. As someone who arrived with a K-1, I know how annoying the waiting game is. Hang in there, it’ll happened eventually!

    Can’t say whether it will or won’t, but I would think you still have time to change it if you are worried. At least where I am, you can walk into a DMV and leave with an official temporary license/ID that same day. Your mileage may vary. Good luck!

    How’s everybody doing out there? I’m still waiting. Getting kind of impatient. I filed my N-400 a while back and that didn’t make anything go any quicker. Hopefully some of y’all have had some movement in the last few months

    Sorry if I’m missing something but I thought the whole point of filing a request was to compel some kind of action. Why wouldn’t filing for the I-751 when it gets outside of processing time compel someone to go and find the file and send it to the field office?

    But equally an unapproved I-751 isn’t a reason to not move ahead with an N-400 interview, right? I was under the impression that whilst adjudication of an N-400 is of course not independent of I-751, its processing up until the decision, is independent. Otherwise I’m unclear how anybody would ever get an N-400 interview before I-751 is approved.

    Always struck me as odd that you pay it as the buyer. A fun wrinkle. Used to be yet another hurdle to first time buyers. I am glad they changed the threshold for them. A rare good Tory policy. When I bought my first house, the developer ‘waived’ the SDLT, or paid it on my behalf. That was nice.

    What is the 32 months based on? I-485 processing time for Montgomery, AL is 14 months for family based cases.

    As it stands, for my FO, I can do a case inquiry at ~10 months (though that has been getting pushed out recently). Hoping it doesn’t go that long tbh.

    It has now abandoned the estimated timeline and replaced it with ‘Your case is taking longer than we previously estimated, but it is within normal processing times.’ I honestly wish they wouldn’t bother with the timeline, it doesn’t do anybody any good.

    Yeah maybe? But at a certain point you are where you are. It is not as if leaving has righted the perceived wrongs of joining, and it is hard to argue leaving has had any real benefits. And, for my part, I believe that the young people of the UK, in particular, should never forgive Farage et al for successfully campaigning for (not to mention lying about) the removal of rights that they were born with. But it was also nine years ago and I probably need to just get over it. Be well.

    Yes Perhaps, but if voters think Farage is the answer, they are going to be sorely mistaken. Aside from anything else, he should never be forgiven for his considerable role in the Brexit mess.

    Tories. Labour will be kicked to the curb and first past the post will limit Reform’s seats, assuming they don’t lose their momentum in the meantime. So a default, unpopular Tory govt looms. Only question is whether they have to be propped up in a coalition.

    You can get SSN before or after marriage. I got it after K-1 marriage but before EAD/AP/GC. It is definitely easier before, but still possible (and permitted) after.

    If anybody is interested in a recent example of how MyProgress is (still) useless, mine current shows as 1 week, but I don’t even have an interview scheduled yet 😂

    Per casestatusext around 45% have been decided. But the tough bit is that only around 12% haven’t at least heard *something*. I know those numbers may not be representative because that website can only track paper applications, but I think it is reasonable to assume paper and only move broadly in the same ways. I’m still within my processing time - I filed say 5.25 months ago and stated processing time is 9 months. But it is tough watching so many applications move along while mine is just isn’t. And I just want to be done. So badly.
