So my biggest fear happened tonight when my husband was on his way to work. Some jerk hit him while he was on his bike. The driver of the car just kept going like my husband was a piece of trash, not worth stopping for. My husband is a bit banged up, but no broken bones, thank god!!! But he will not be able to do much for a few weeks, and I am stuck here in Canada unable to be there to care for him. I think our bike is a complete write off, but I am just thankful my husband is still alive.

I really hope that's not the case 😔 I got unlucky with the i130 process, it took almost 12 months to get DQd. From the spreadsheet and how things were speeding up, it seemed like the max I would wait is 8 months for the interview. I don't know what I'll do if it's much longer than that Why do we have to put our lives on pause for a process that has the potential to go much faster? My friend is going through the spousal immigration process but for another country, and received her visa in 3 months. The American immigration system needs some real reform, I wish no one had to go through this. Sorry for the mini rant, I hope everyone is still able to enjoy their day and weekend 💔

Since joining VJ, I have noticed that there is a really bad attitude in that the way that US Immigration operates is acceptable? Maybe it's because people who have already gone through the awful process think that other's should have to go through it too, and that it shouldn't be made easier for them? Kinda that whole deal about cancelling student debt, "but I paid my student debt, so should they".

Let's get real here, yes, we do have to work within the constraints of the process and law as it is today. But that doesn't stop us recognizing that US immigration law is an immoral abomination. Has anyone considered that the rate of irregular immigration to the US is so high is because the lawful process is so byzantine, so harsh with insurmountable requirements for most that they feel they have no other option? The more new citizens of the US recognize this and demand better for the people who will join them down the line, the better.

Last time I checked, the US was a democracy and the law should change if there is a demand for it. We're trying to immigrate to the US, not flippin' China.

By all means, advise people of the lawful and correct ways to navigate the process, doesn't mean we can't all vent and recognize that it reeeeeally shouldn't be like this.

    So I was approved yesterday.

So what can I add to be helpful?

If you are seeing Dr Cheema for your medical you are going to Life Labs after your appointment with him  for a Blood AND Urine test. You need an appointment for this lab (no walkins currently) and fortunately Dr Cheema has reserved appointments and they will get you an appointment time for your lab work after your medical exam. You also need a chest x-ray. The chest x-ray is taken across the street from the lab so you can park and walk between the two.
I had 45 minutes after leaving Dr Cheema's until my lab appointment and easily fit my chess x-ray in before my lab appointment.
I had my appointment with Dr Cheema on Tuesday Apr 6 and received an email Friday that my medical had been sent to Montreal. My interview was on Apr 14th and they had my results at my interview. No problems with that.
Dr Cheema will mail you a CD with your Chest x-ray image. This is just for your personal record and you should keep it as part of your medical history.

My advice for your interview is just made sure the documents they ask for namely your Passport, Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Police Certificate, Certificate of Divorce (if needed) are NOT expired and are the right ones. Your Birth Certificate needs your parents names and their place of birth on it. I also had my wife's Birth Certificate (petitioner) which is on the list but was not asked for it.
They will ask you for a passport/immigration photo and will scan it.

The Interview in Montreal was for lack of a better word relaxed.  The lady that interviewed me was very nice.
They will ask you how you met your spouse which will lead to other questions like how much have you seen each other how long did you date before you were married.
They will ask where you plan to live in the US.
They will ask what  you plan to do for work in the US.
    We are retired.
My wife is the petitioner and moved back to the US in 2019 I just brought a print out of her 2019 1040 with schedules which was about a quarter inch thick because of the move from Canada back to the US in 2019. The lady just kept the first two pages of the 1040 and was totally fine with that. We have substantial assets and I had bank  statements etc uploaded to CEAC before my interview. I had a thick folder documenting our assets but was not asked for any of it.  She just looked over what I had already uploaded and was fine with that.
The interview took about 10 minutes in total.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Got an apology letter from the consulate this morning for issuing the wrong visa class (Cr-1 instead of IR-1). They were able to update my digital vis package so the CBP agents should be able to issue the correct class! Crossing on Friday, fingers crossed.

My visa got approved today. The consulate accepted the expired foreign PCC with no questions asked. Thank you all for the helping each other out!

Interview went smooth. The only docs they wanted to see were Passport, Birth Certificate and English Translation, Marriage Certificate and Police Certificates. I uploaded the IRS Transcripts beforehand which might be why they didn't ask for them.

    Questions asked:
    1. How and when did you meet your spouse?
    2. When and where did you get married?
    3. How many people were present at the wedding?
    4. What is your and your spouse's occupation?
    5. What was your longest stay in the United States?

Best of luck to everyone next in line for the interview and again thank you everyone!
