  1. I wanted to make this post as I had tried looking EVERYWHERE online for a definitive answer and never found one. In the hopes this can help someone else in Texas, here is my experience. (I understand that this can differ depending upon which State you reside in so I can only relay my experience in Texas) I applied for a DL after passing my very first road test in Texas in August (2023) and was issued a DL with “limited term” and its expiration was 8 months later in April. Even though I searched and searched online my understanding was that limited term is assigned to those who are temporarily visiting the State. When I reached out to Texas DPS via email right away I was told it was nothing to do with them and it was in fact to do with DHS. When I reached out to DHS I didn’t get a response. Today I went to renew my DL and asked about why I got the limited term on my DL and was told that was what was given to them when they ran my GC a couple of times in the SAVE system. Thankfully today I have an 8 year expiration DL coming in the post for me soon.
  2. Thankful for this thread as I am still unclear as to why I have a limited term Texas DL as a LPR. Appears someone has not done something with my status even though my SSN card was updated in April, August I passed road test and issued a limited term DL. Following…
  3. Thanks for moving this for me🙂 My CGC expires March 2025 and my DL expires April 2024.
  4. Thank you! I’ve attached the email I got below. I thought as much and not sure why I’ve been short changed and then thought oh perhaps it’s because I’m a brand new driver (never owned a dl before in London or Canada) as well as being a 2 year CGC holder. Good afternoon, Thank you for your email. The Department does not generate the expiration date for an individual that is not a U.S. citizen. It is generated based on the lawful presence expiration date returned to the Department by USCIS when lawful presence is confirmed in the license office. You may contact USCIS at 800-375-5283 or click here to inquire as to why the expiration date on your card was returned to the Department as your lawful presence expiration date by USCIS. To ensure that USCIS returns the new lawful presence expiration date to the Department, we recommend that a license or ID card for an individual not a United States citizen be renewed on or after the expiration date. Thank you for contacting us and if you need anything else, please let us know.
  5. I am unsure where to post this so please move it is in the wrong category. I just received my Texas DL the other day and yet was assigned a limited term one. When DPS got back to me they stated I have that generated from USCIS. Is this normal for a first time driver and LPR? From the research I did limited term is designated for foreign visitors so I’m unsure and expected a year or more DL. I paid $33 for my DL fee. I wasn’t going to waste my time on USCIS just yet since so many of you have helped me tremendously on my visa journey. TIA!
  6. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/robert-spencer/2023/08/02/the-new-charges-against-trump-carry-the-death-penalty-n1715460 Wait. What? I find it very very interesting that as the whistleblower accounts are made, Jack Smith adds more against Trump🤔
  7. Brilliant! Just brilliant😀DeSantis needs to be strung up due to the 4 that stayed in MV😄
  8. Tony Blinken, “On Taiwan, I reiterated a longstanding US ‘One China’ policy. That policy has not changed. It’s guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, three joint communiques, the six assurances. We do not support Taiwan independence. We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect the peaceful resolution to cross-state differences.” https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/06/we-do-not-support-taiwan-independence-tony-blinken/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=we-do-not-support-taiwan-independence-tony-blinken
  9. Initially gave a thanks to your comments and only retracted after re-reading. It’s a sad day. First the black National anthem (whatever that means) I know some black people who consider July 4th to be celebrated rather than this day. I’ve not understood the need to be separated since living here. Truly baffling. (As I look across The Pond, they are going crazy over race too in ways I didn’t see when raised and living there) Soon Reparations Day? If so, EVERYONE will celebrate as every nation, ethnicity and people groups have been slaves and were slave masters. Where to draw the line? I’m digressing….I cannot imagine what people would say in this country if dare be it, white people had a day of celebration for being white. White supremacy!!! The horror!!! Why isn’t this different? Apologies just really tired of the black this and white that talk that is so rampant in lamestream media and elsewhere. The day ethnicity is no longer talked about will be the day this foolishness will end. Can we not just get along and stop talking about our differences and creating a divide that isn’t there? -gets off soapbox- Thanks for letting me rant!
  10. Congratulations to you! Now a small wait for that GC😊Thrilled for you!!!
  11. After your previous update about USCIS' reopening the case, with your husband back in Oz, I was suspicious that this was not going to go well 🙁I have no advice to offer and only suggest that you do exactly what @Crazy Cat suggests. USCIS has done you such a disservice, trying to do this without an experienced immigration lawyer may hinder your case even more, if that can even be possible, considering what has already happened to you and your family. Hoping the best for you and your family!
  12. Thanks @Kai G. Llewellyn for your advice🙂 I was able to speak with an agent at CRA who informed me when I filed last year I should have included my emigration date. I mailed out a T1 adjustment for that reason. Like you stated, as a non-resident, I have no need to report or file my income to them. I was informed according to their records I was still a deemed resident.
  13. Excellent article. Very damning. One can never trust that agency again. I found this part very interesting: “The evidence on which the investigation was based was so lacking that when the agency, during a meeting at FBI headquarters in Washington in the fall of 2016, asked members of British Intelligence for some further assistance, the Brits refused. The FBI’s liaison with the British told Durham’s office that “the Brits finally had enough” and that “there was no [expletive] way in hell they were going to do it.” So, the British government recognized the complete lack of merit in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, but our own government did not”
  14. Very interesting article. Some things just never change. The scary part today is going to be the use of AI. They will use it to their advantage. Both GOP and Dems😵‍💫
  15. Loved the comment by the twitter account of Jeremiah102 that Bush should listen to some Thomas Sowell and educate herself😄
  16. W O W! Every time I come looking in here the poop gets deeper and deeper!!! Insanity much?
  17. Even after what has just recently transpired with the lies about Trump and Russia, Biden continues to utilize the FBI against his opponents? Alrighty then!
  18. All good. Found the answer in filing a T1 adjustment for 2021!
  19. Hello! A Canadian PR searching for help in this area. I did try looking, yet did not yield any results with my concerns. I filed taxes for 2021 last year informing CRA as a deemed non-resident. I’m super late in filing for 2022 and of course am now considered a non-resident. Do I just file a zero tax return as I didn’t reside a single day in 2022 in Canada? I do have secondary ties there as I have a bank account that I have active (to pay off my line of credit and credit card) as well as my SunLife account that holds my retirement and RRSP. I’m confused as to what to do and understand I’ll possibly be dinged with late filing penalty fees.
