Pride Cometh Before the Fall [Cracker Barrel] A few years ago, on the way home from a road trip, my wife and I stopped at a Cracker Barrel along the highway. The kids had never been to one, and we wanted to share with them one of our favorite childhood experiences. Needless to say, we were disappointed. It took forever to get our food. And when it finally arrived, the food wasn't just bad. It was downright awful. The waiter, bless his heart, was a space cadet. On the way out, our kids asked in genuine befuddlement why we talked the place up so much. We didn't have an answer other than to say maybe this was just a bad one-off. Happens to any restaurant from time to time. Cracker Barrel wasn't making headline news back then, so I was unaware of what was going on behind the scenes. But apparently, Cracker Barrel was working from the same woke playbook as Bud Light, Victoria's Secret, and Target. [...] https://pjmedia.com/caskeet/2025/08/23/pride-cometh-before-the-fall-n4942985

VAWA, Part 27
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
Man -- we've never had 3 consecutive VAWA-Thread Jokes until now. Here is Sunday's Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke: =========================================== A DOCTOR'S EXPERIENCE A man fell asleep on the beach for several hours and got horrible sunburn, specifically to his upper legs. He was promptly admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with second-degree burns. What with the man's skin already starting to blister, and the severe pain he was in, the doctor prescribed continuous intravenous feeding with saline solution, electrolytes, a sedative, and a Viagra pill every four hours. The nurse, who was rather astounded, asked, "What good will Viagra do for him, Doctor?" The doctor replied, "It won't do anything for his condition, but it'll keep the sheets off his legs." -

Traveling for months!
TBoneTX replied to Cachaza's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
Always tell them the truth, yes. You can try a cheery "First Amendment stuff!" before or after your suggested reply. Technically, it's "agent," not "officer," so perhaps try "sir/ma'am" instead. You can try a 3-month absence, but wait a while before leaving again for that long. -

TBoneTX replied to JosephMary's topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration
Here it is, on CC's behalf. K-1 More expensive than CR-1. Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork). Spouse cannot leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 3-6 months). Spouse cannot work until she/he receives EAD (approx 3-6 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period. Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also. In some situations, marriage can affect certain home-country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice. A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire. K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years. Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises. Current Presidential executive order (travel bans) don't allow K-1 visa holders from some countries to enter the US. CR-1/IR-1 Less expensive than K-1. No Adjustment of Status (I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US. Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US. Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US. The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US. A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises. Current Presidential executive order (travel bans) exempt immediate relatives of US citizens. -
How To Commit Democratic Party Suicide
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
VDH lays it out. ~~~~~~~~~~~ What Is the Democratic Alternative to Trump? The Pavlovian Left goes berserk at the mere prospect of each new Trump initiative. Its escalating reactive venom and hysteria are calibrated to the success of Trump's latest policy. Yet the new hard-left Democratic Party offers no counter-agenda to explain its furor. Still less do Democrats attempt bipartisan efforts to craft shared legislation. Take foreign policy. Democratic senators trashed the recent Trump-Putin Alaskan summit as a failure. Then they became depressed when, just days later, an entourage of European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suddenly flew to the White House. The Euros praised Trump for offering some sort of negotiated pathway to peace after over three years of war and some 1.5 million dead, wounded, missing, and captured on both sides -- on Europe's doorstep. So why did Democrats object to such negotiations by Trump? Was the reason [...] https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2025/08/22/what_is_the_democratic_alternative_to_trump_153207.html -

As with every prior phase of this immigration process: Read carefully, interpret literally, and respond completely & honestly. If it's not required, avoid reading something into situations that isn't there. -

This. The general recommendation here is to stay out of the U.S. for twice as long as you spent there.
