Maine is also the only U.S. state with a one-syllable name. Somewhere on my bucket list is the idea of driving around the entire perimeter of Maine, but people have told me that this isn't possible on the western side. Unless there are impassable mountains or nothing but potato farms with no need for roads, I'm stumped as to why.
