That is not true.  Prior to COVID 19 every VAWA based I-485 had an interview.

Don't get married before your VAWA approval. Having a child will not affect your case.

As of April 26, 2022, lawful permanent residents of the U.S. must show the following documents for all methods of travel to Canada:

Green card holders never needed visas. They initially only needed an ETA. But as of the aforementioned date, they only need to present the documents listed below:
a valid passport from their country of nationality (or an equivalent acceptable travel document) and a valid green card (or equivalent valid proof of status in the United States) Absolutely!😊👍

    Hi VJ Family!

Has anyone been successful in contacting Sen Gillibrand lately?

I reached out to her in the beginning of January. In February I receive the following response:

I appreciate you taking the time to bring this immigration matter to my attention. I know how important it is to you.
In an effort to be of assistance, I have brought the information you presented to the attention of the US Citizenship & Immigration Services. I have requested a review of this matter and a written response from the agency.
As soon as I receive a response, I will contact you again.

However, I've never heard anything since then. I thought USCIS had to reply to a senator's inquiry within a certain period of time. Does anyone know how long they have to reply? 4 months of silence seems way too long, is this normal?

I also reached out to my congresswoman a couple of weeks ago but still haven't heard back. I've submitted my I-485 in 2017 and my I-360 was approved 11 months ago, I just needed some light at this point 😣

The immigration LAW and USCIS's handling of immigration cases do not align with your personal opinion.  I had over 6.000 cases, which at least 3.500 were people from India and Pakistan.I never had one single case denied.Individuals who have been victims of abuse should file VAWA.The  strict policy you mentioned does not exist.

As long you  didn't apply  for asylum or you are not  in removal proceedings you can travel without any problem.

DO- Start the out of processing inquiry, I got approved a week after I did the inquiry and was told to wait for them to schedule interview

DONT- get the medical done yet. Wait for them to ask for it in mail or to bring to interview. Presence or absence of I693 has little to no consequence for interview or approval expedition/speed

TIA20 reacted to Heroe in Notifying the USCIS about name change
Hi. Me (beneficiary) and my wife (petitioner) sent the AOS package a little over a month ago, including I-130 + I-485 + I-765. We sent it right after we got married. After that, my wife changed her last name to mine. In the AOS documents and forms that we filled, we used always her maiden name since she hadn't changed her name yet. Now, we just realized than in the NOA, it says "notifiy the USCIS if there are any changes in the personal information". I just called the USCIS National Customer Service and they told me we needed to send a letter explaining the name change and include any supporting evidence (like her new social security card). However, I still have a few questions that maybe somebody here can help me solve:
-The guy told me to send the letter to the address that appears in the NOA. In my case, it is an address in Missouri, which I wasn't expecting since we live in Texas and we sent the AOS package to Chicago. I assume from Chicago they sent it to Missouri and that's where they're working at it right now?
-What should I say in the envelope? I'm pretty sure I need to put the receipt number, but what else? "Update"? "Name change"? Or just nothing else at all? I bet it's not very common to notify the USCIS about the petitioner's change of name, but I would appreciate any info regarding letters to the USCIS notifying address changes or phone number changes, since I could probably use something very similar in the envelope.
-I was planning on writing a very brief letter just explaining that the reason why she changed her name is because we just got married, and also include a photocopy of our marriage license, and her new social security card showing the changed name. Am I missing anything?
-There's been a problem with my wife's name change: I have two last names (two different words) and she only wants to have my first last name as her last name. When she got her new social security card, she had no trouble and she officially changed her last name to my first last name. However, when she tried to change her driver license, they wouldn't let her keep only my first last name and she was forced to have both of my last names as her last name, since both of my last names appear in the marriage license. We are now trying to legally change her last name to only my first one, using a court order. Since the USCIS seems to 'care' more about social security information than driver licenses, I think it makes sense to tell the USCIS to update her name to the one that her social security card says, which is also the one that she's ultimately going to have in her driver license.
    Thanks in advance.

Consider filing out of normal processing time request for I485 to your local USCIS office. Just to light a fire under their ###, so you dont have to wait too much longer for I485 processing. Technically it is out of processing time although the local office cant do anything about vawa delays. I485 processing times (actual ones based on this forum, not posted on USCIS website) are all over the place, some take a few months, some take 2-3 years AFTER vawa approval.

VAWA can be expedited, this is true data and mentioned through the person that she has some life threatening situation thats why  they approved her petition. Few people did get approved less than a year or little over a year. It really depend on case to case basis. We cannot overwhelm ourselves with what we see except just pray to get approvad.

I just received a good news that my 765 based on vawa 485 was approved. I filed them all together in 9/2021 and I am so glad that according to the receipt notice, they gave me a combo card that is valid for two years. This is great!
